My resident (17-year-old) granddaughter surprised me with my very first chicks for Christmas 2018. There were 8 but I lost 4 the very first night in the cold. The other 4 came to live inside!!
I should explain that I ALWAYS wanted chickens so... my adventure began! Much to my husband's concern, every time I went to the feed supply I came home with at least 3 more chicks (multiple kinds). Some mysteriously died, but I ended up with 15. They come running when called, follow me around, and will jump up in my lap when I sit outside! AND, I'm in heaven!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Sorry for your losses. Did you use a heat lamp on the chicks? Chicks need heat for the first 5 or so weeks of their lives till adult feathers grow in. Glad you are enjoying this adventure, chickens are SO much fun to keep!

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our community! :)
