MissPrissy! I didn't know that about you...now you have to tell us everything! I've been wanting to have a sheep for milk and to sell the lambs but wasn't sure about the breed aspects of milking sheep. I would really like to get a Dorper or other hair sheep, so I wouldn't have to shear, but was wondering if one could get good milk from those breeds. If one were to do a cross of the Friesans and the Dorpers, would they have the "hair" trait still and also the good milking traits? I can't get a goat, as the pasture area is also my orchard.
If I had to go with a good, sweet milk cow I would go Jersey...they are still kind of small and, Oh, so sweet! Lots of very high fat milk, also.
