Mini milking cows or milking goats

Agreed.

I raise saanan/nubian crosses. They make a lot of milk. More than we can drink.

I don't know many cows that have a personality like my goats.

We have dairy goats and cows. For what you need BUY GOATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Easier to manage and train. Just be sure you have VERY GOOD fencing. Goats could have taught the prisoners on Alcatraz to escape the rock.

Meh. I still want a milk cow over a goat. I don't think I will ever be convinced. I just like the cheese and milk better from a cow.

Dexters are cute! Little tiny sweet baby cows

You will find their udders VERY strange. Their teats stick out on the sides like the air valve stems on your tires. LOL The udder doesn't hang down with teats like goats or cows. It is the absolute strangest thing in the world until you get used to it.

We even have one of the very rare sheep dairies within a few miles of house. They make amazing cheeses! They do a rare milk cheese that must be aged for at least 60 days (dairy laws) and good heavens is some of the things make over there sinful. Also sinfully priced!

I have a dexter you can have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are some breeders out there breeding for the buck rather than characteristics and producing some really bad animals. Since I got mine I have heard of more than 10 others that came through this breeder that are nut bars and dangerous.

40 + dead chickens, 2 battered jerseys, 1 battered owner, 1 buck goat rammed through a 2 x 6 fence, and 6 other goats that run in fear when she comes around. This is the dexters current tally and something we are seeing far to often up here in the lines. So be VERY cautious of who you buy from.

I am sorry about your cow. I don't know of anyone that owns one, but I have read about them. I haven't read anything bad, but breeders won't want to write that. I hope things get better.

my DH's aunt is going to buy mini cows so just to see what she was talking about I googled them.
And my jaw dropped when I saw the price.
the cheapest one was $1,250 and they had a breeding pair for 10k . Rediculous
Get the goats!
