Has anyone ever seen feathers like these? Do they come from a particular breed? They’ve grown out of both the tail and wings of a few of my five week old silkies...

Personally, I've never had girls that sported streamers. And all my boy silkies have always had streamers on their noggins. So the little flared bits at the end of each feather that look like polka dots are signs of a male? Or is it just the fact that the feathers are longer?
Your chicks are too young to be sporting streamers. These usually will make their appearance around 14-16 weeks of age and will always be on the head. My silkie mix has the same feathers on her tail....or she did. I don't know if they were young immature feathers that molted out, or if she still has them. I haven't played attention

While you're up under there, the one true way to sex a silkie is thru taste. Give them a lick on the vent, girls will taste sweet, like sugar and spice, and everything nice, but the little roos will poo on your face before you can get a taste!
