I am considering getting one. What are peoples thoughts? I really like the jerseys. I am reading "storeys guide to miniature livestock" right now it is a good book. Does anyone know of a breeder in alberta?

I looked into getting Dexters once, until I saw the price...

I can't tell you anything about your area, but where I live the prices for any breed of mini dairy cows are crazy. I could buy 2 regular dairy cows for that price.

When I was asking around about minis, most people told me to get goats instead.

- So true. For me though, the sad part is how rare it is to find miniature anything's. Except Herefords. Which in my opinion aren't that great.

This was something my husband and I were talking about before he died. Also wanted mini Angus. From all I've read they have more prime meat per pound than the full sized.

Maybe someday I can still do some of the things we wanted to do.

From the research I've done if you have a small holding then the meat/milk to land ratio is much higher with the Dexters. They generally produce 2/2.5 gallons of milk per day with 4% butter fat and the fat globules are so small in their milk it's naturally homogenised.
