Minnesota!

That is a good question ralphie. Some people think I am heartless because I view an animals life much differently than a humans. For example, my sister and brother in law have a rescue pit bull that has bit my mom, wife, stepdad, and a few others. They just had their first child two weeks ago. They still think that dog is fine and not going to be a problem. I on the other hand, would have shot that dog after the first sign of aggression and the thought of them letting an infant lay on the floor with that animal around is very irresponsible. So when I am about to kill a chicken? All I'm thinking about is dinner.

Keeping such a dog with an infant... Wow, recipe for disaster.

My stupid dog is 50% pit bull. But I belong to the "any dog can be aggressive when treated poorly enough" club. She has never shown any indication of dominance.

KlopKlop,  No doubt the three S's apply, if you were to even hint that there cute little chicken was going to be eaten, they would never let you have it.

That dog would not get the chance for a 3rd bite for sure.  I figure any dog can bite once, if some one deserves to be bitten. I can even think of some people that deserve to be bitten. BUT that many is way over the biting limit.     Cyrus maybe you and I  form a "chicken rescue ranch".

Great idea! I've reached my rooster rescue limit.

we could front as an old chicken sanctuary where good birds come to live out their last days. But really be running a chicken soup factory out the back door! like a chicken soup cartel! we could call it "Greener Pastures".

We could advertise for donations of food stuff, bread, expired canned goods etc, to feed the birds and of course cash.

We could then open "Redneck Soup kitchen" for the poor and homeless. specializing in bring chicken to the poor.

We could ask for volunteers, food stuff and cash to help feed the poor......

We would only have 2 paid staff members. It would be a model of efficiency, We might need to hire a third or fourth person for the times we take needed fishing and hunting trips to relax.

Of course, this would be a tax exempt endeavor. We would have to take some care to assure people do not learn the two entities are connected.

Scandia, I have had the tax certificate but that was YEARs ago, now when I buy farm stuff. I just pay the price.

I've been running numbers to see if I could take a portion of rent as a crop share from my rental land and then use that to feed out 2-3 pigs next year and it be worth it. I could also use some of it to feed next years broilers....
