A screaming torpedo egg?  I pity the girls that lay those things.  If a hen laying an egg is like a woman having a 9-pound baby, then those double yolkers gotta be like an 18-pound baby!!!  Poor girls.

Today I made a run to Grand Rapids for feed, bedding and straw. I put the bales in the run. Tootsie and the girls went nuts plucking and pulling on the oat strands.
While they were doing that I pulled everything out of the coop. Roosts. Nests. Panel radiant heater, ceiling insulation. Everything. Swept. Dusted and washed down walls. My intention was to white wash the inside with barn paint but my day got short on me with the run to town. And dusk came and I had to assemble the coop again for the birds as they were getting anxious to go to bed.

I've got a roll of that Reflectix ( like TekFoil) coming from Home Depot this coming week. I want the coop to be ready to go so all I'll have to do is cut and staple it up on the walls between the studs.
Excited to see what this stuff does for me.

On that note, after my 4.5 hour long workout yesterday of pushmowing around the yard, I've decided that I would be willing, nay, honored, to reliquish my wonderful exercise program to anyone who feels the need for extreme sports, the latest craze in crossfit. Think of it, 28,000 plus steps on your fitbit, AND a feeling of accomplishment! I'll even throw in a beer of your choice, I'll run out and get a PBR for a redneck if need be! What more could you ask for?

Yes. A very gentle and large breed. It can take up to 18 mos. to reach full maturity.

I am confused. This news headline doesn't make sense to me.
"Gov. Mark Dayton plans for pheasant restoration"



How do you do habitat restoration for an animal that is not a native species? So the DNR and the feds say duck numbers are way up, so why not drain tile a bunch of marshes to make those areas more suitable for an invasive upland bird?

Am I missing something here??
