Minnesota!

No it really is a software bug. When I click the button to upload photos in the post the screen goes dark with a large 'cancel' button in the middle. Except I can't click it! I have to force quit the app and come back in.
There is something that keeps coming up on my phone if I try to take a picture when I am on the page, and the same with Facebook. I have to take the picture with the photo app, then just upload from the device. I don't see one thing that is an improvement with this OS9 crap. Some people just make changes for the sake of making changes instead of just leaving a good thing alone. The weather page ticks me off the most. If they would just go back to the Classic Maps and give us the ability to see exactly where the precipitation is, I would love it! But noooo, they have to keep getting new maps that don't show diddly.

OK i could not find IVOMEC anywhere near me so i had to order some online. hopefully it doesn't take long to get here. I feel so bad for the girl. I noticed the difference between Ivomec ingredients is 5 mg Ivermectin per ml and Frontline is Fipronil 9.8% and the frontline doesn't say anything about killing ear mites otherwise i would just run to petsmart...and I'm sure it would have been allot cheaper BUT i did notice Revolution for cats says it kills ear mites but i would need a prescription for that... So I went out to try and squeeze the puss,,,urggg I couldnt do it...i tried i wanted to but just couldnt... so i just rubbed neosporine all over her ears.. I figured it couldnt hurt and since i got the Duramycin 10 i might as well use it, So i put 1/4 tsp to 1 gallon of water.

They didn't have it in Fleet Farm?? I got mine there, it was in the aisle with all the large animal dewormers and such.
Fiporil is a broad spectrum med too, but either should do the trick.
They aren't necessarily ear mites, but they do attack the ears and the skin. Your hen may have flaky white dead skin all over in that area too. But you really should try to get that gunk out, it is like leaving pus in a wound. You want to take a finger and thumb and start about a half an inch on either side and squeeze up like you are popping a zit. Trust me, I know it is gross, but now that you have critters, you should probably get yourself accustomed to doing some things that are just gross, it comes with the territory ;)

So, funny story of the day....

The soy fields mostly got harvested here in the last week before we got rain. So, of course, the lady beetles are out again. They aren't as bad as they used to be, but still are making their presence known.
My 17-year old son has been allergic to various things since birth, not in a deadly way, but still, he has reactions.
He got out of school at 1:34, like every day, and texted to say he was walking to Kwik Trip to meet him there. I came upon him on Main St. and gave him a ride the rest of the way, at which time he said, "I got a bug in my mouth while I was walking and it is gross." The 'it is gross' was enough to convince me it was a lady beetle. Right away his lip started swelling, and within a couple of minutes, his throat was swelling too. Lucky for us, there is a clinic right in town. So, over we went. They took him right in and checked him out, I didn't want him to end up not being able to breathe. It never got that bad, it wasn't effecting his breathing, just his swallowing. They gave him Benedryl and it started to improve.
The doctor had me look in his mouth too, and he was chuckling, that dang bug bit his lip, and bit at least 4 places INSIDE his mouth!
Son says, "Mom, this could only happen to me." He has been laughing also. It was his only day this week he had off from work and he ended up spending half his afternoon out of school in a doctor's office. Poor kid.

When he was 3 they were covering him one day on the stoop. He loved playing with bugs. I went out to check on him and he was blowing up with lumps all over. I pulled him inside and washed him off and called the doctor's office. They said to give him benedryl then too. I did and it got better over the course of a few hours. But when I showed him what the bugs had caused, he said with angry tears in his eyes, "My FRIENDS did this to me??" I laughed my butt off!

Cyrus-you could make a computerized design of her dream kitchen and bedroom/bathroom of the farm house you want. She should fall in love and you are set. Klop & Blanch you guys know how to do that stuff right? Just show her what it could look like.

As far as carpet in the bathroom goes: Obviously a bad idea but somehow my dad had his bathroom carpeted when they put in his new house a few years back. It seems like a no brainer to me that there is no way anyone would think "hey lets put carpet in the wettest room in the house" but they did and my dad says sure. Hmmm

It will probably be raw inside too, but I wouldn't put anything in the ear that isn't prescribed for ears specifically. When mine got it bad the first time, I had stuff from the vet for my dog who had a double ear infection that had cleared up. I had this little pump bottle with a nozzle to get down in the dog's ear, so I used it on the rooster. It helped a lot , but that stuff isn't easy or cheap to come by and I only used it because I had it on hand. Once you get the mites off, it should have a chance to clear up.

I am with Klop.... WHO puts carpet in a bathroom? Well, the previous owners of our house did, a lovely goldenrod color from the early 70's. The kitchen was also carpeted. And why? Because there is clearly little to no insulation on the south wall and when the winter south wind blows, it feels like we are walking on ice in the bathroom. I prefer to use throw rugs in there that can be washed regularly. The kitchen? All I can figure is that the floors slope so bad, that the carpet could soak up spills quickly rather than run under the stove and down into the basement via the electric opening for the plug for the stove. If the bathroom carpet wasn't bad enough, especially when it was also on the hallway floor that goes the length of the upstairs, but also down the stairs that all had wallpaper straight out of an 1860 western brothel. The kitchen carpet was called "Bicennetial", they put it in in 1976, the previous owner told me. I can't imagine it looked any better in 1976 as it did in 1999. It came out within a month of us moving here. The only wall to wall carpeting left is in the 'front' room where I have my incubators, used to be the parlor, was once our kids play room off the dining room. It has never seen a lot of traffic, but it is coming out sometime this winter, I hope.

@Coffee 1st I can't believe that no one answered your post in the Emergencies section!! It is a good thing we have such helpful veterans here on the Minnesota thread to help us when we need it!!
Thank you everyone for all the help and advice you have given over all the months I have been here. It truly is helpful to hear from everyone while us newbies are learning the ropes. I value and appreciate every ones opinion here and I mean that.
