Well, if they are used to the heat lamp it may be a little hard on them to suddenly have that low of a temp. can they go in with the chickens for the night?

Here,Here!!!O degrees here this morning, and we got to move 18+ inches of snow yesterday. The total snowfall for the winter so far is over 10 feet. The chickens from one coop got a little time in the sunshine yesterday afternoon and loved it, but the fenced runs have about 4 ft of snow at this point, and if I leave the coop doors open so the chickens can get out I need to stand guard so the deer don't go in to eat the feed out of the feeders.
Spring is long overdue, and I hope we don't see anymore appreciable (over 2 inches) snowfalls.
The chicks are doing wonderfully. They are really feathering beautifully.Maybe I will try to do a mix for them. I am sure their diet is part of this equation. I keep them outside year-around too. They have a little house to go in, but are out about 350 days of the year. The Calls are in a hutch though with an indoor out door set-up.
So, Heidi, how are those lovelies you got from me? I have some January hatch birds that my kids are going to show from, and they are looking gorgeous now! I can't wait to get them outside on grass soon. Do you think we will see grass before June?![]()
