Morning everyone!

News from yesterday - stupid dog ran through something and ended up with a cut down to her Achilles' tendon, thankfully not through, and had to get stitched up. She hates the cone of shame and wants to go outside and run.
Found coyote scat in our backyard area, no wonder dog is so restless.

As I'm standing in the coop doing a head count I hear scratching noises from the roof area. Something out of a horror film! The squirrels have probably set up their winter nest and the chickens are absolutely not bothered by it! Am still going to get a ladder and peek in the area through the one window and be certain.

After our rat conversation I was a bit concerned.

Poor puppy hope she feels better soon...

Update on my girls ears.. they are looking good.. her cheeks and neck feathers are still stained blue from the blukote..
right ear,,it wasnt as bad as the left

left ear that was really bad,, looks lots better..

what i did this morning...
made dust bath for the run for winter.. added organic peetmoss,sand from the yard and DE...

logs for them to hang out on ...

im thinking i should get some rope out and strap logs together so none of them fall over and land on one of the girls..

Im so worried my chickens are going to freeze to death this winter...i think i should just make one of the spare bedrooms into a winter coop for them...LOL

Hahaha! I know what you mean, people at my work have asked me if i'm going to do this. nooo, but don't think I haven't thought about bringing them into the basement on super cold days!

@scandiafowl , so here is a story of rats. I've been reading this ladies thread for a long time now, but the rats come into the picture at post #746. if anyone has time to burn, feel free to start at the beginning of the thread, there are ups, there are downs, there are naysayers, there are supporters. it is a wonderful thread, but be careful, you will get pulled in and won't be able to wait to see what happens next... like I said, if you have time in the winter for reading? lol
