ditto!!Hey! sorry I got it wrong. I've been telling everyone about your cute baby and was wondering how it's doing! Hope he/she makes it! I'd probably have mom and babe in the house!
updates and pictures!
We have the unexpected baby goat! Its been quite a learning exoerience and it is still touch and go with the little one. I do not recommend having a baby goat this time a year!
I was getting that yesterday on my desktop. I had to close the window and try again. Haven't had it since, but I think it might have been a glitch with BYC if more than just I was getting it.
Okay, I think you have a mite problem that is causing this and was the cause of the ear issue. Did you clean it with a warm, wet cloth? I would start with that. I would then recommend getting something calle terramycin and rub it in and around her eyes. It is a optic antibiotic, and it runs around $20 for a little tube. The stuff you gave her might help with infection, but if I am right on the mites, then it is time to treat all the birds with something for that. Frontline is a very popular treatment for external parasites with breeders/exhibitors these days. It is the dog stuff, you can get a little cheaper brand of the same thing called Sentry from Fleet Farm. Each bird gets a couple of drops on their shoulders, just like a dog, and directly on the skin. I was told to do this once in Spring and once in the fall to keep bugs off them. If they are bothering her ears then they may be bothering the eyes and causing the hen to scratch her eyes and shake her head. The poor thing though. I feel bad for birds who just attract these things. This poor girl I'm not sure what to do about her first it was her ears and now it's her eyes. I noticed yesterday she was scratching her eyes quite a bit. Then today when I was giving them mealworms I noticed how bad her eyes were. So after they all went to roost I went and got her and brought her back into the bathroom and gave her some leftover antibiotics that I had from my dog when she had her teeth pulled. I figured the dosage should be the same since my dog only weighs 4 1/2 lbs. I hope this works otherwise I might have to put her to sleep permanently. I would hate to do that because she has always been my favorite one since the day I got them. She seems to be the only one that ever has any problems. Right eyeleft eye
antibiotics that I gave her
