oh my gosh, some of you can stay up late!  I finally got old enough where being up at 10 pm is a rarity. funny how you think you will never ever hit that point when you are younger!

Aussiegal and Coffee, sounds like a wonderful time.  Great that the kids got to see and be with the animals.

I have a friend/neighbor down the road who has alpacas.  We arent close friends or anything, but run into each other at social events.  The company she worked for went out of business last year so she lost her job.  Just found out she has lost her house , it went up for sheriff's auction and she and the alapacas, livestock dog, house dogs, barn cats, housecats have to be out by April.  I feel badly because while we are not close, I wish I had known and could have encouraged her to get her place up for sale.  She is in her mid 60's, worked hard her whole life,  has health problems.  And to be facing this?

I think it is hard to find someone to buy alpacas, and probably hard to just find a home for them.  She clearly probably can't find a place to rent that allow  all the  house dogs.  Can't really think of much I can do to support her except keep in contact and just be there.  I kept thinking of her this thanksgiving.

How sad! Hopefully she can find a new place for her animals, maybe somebody on here is looking to add alpacas

mmmm, coffee. tough thing this morning: no cream in the house, so had to use heavy cream for the coffee this morning. And pumpkin pie and turkey sandwich for breakfast.

I know she still looks bad but she is making noise, looks mad, she is eating and drinking. The swelling is mostly gone and her eyes are open. Her poop looks much better today. SO I gave her the last of the antibiotics. And put her back in the run with the other girls. Hope she doesn't get to cold.. I've decided if she has another problem I will just take her in to have the Necropsy done. I was going to take her this morning but I just couldn't since she seems to be doing better. I do think it is just a matter of time I'm sure this is a reoccurring issue .. But for today she is happy..

Ugh, that's tough. If only the timing were a little different, I'll be looking for animals in the next couple of years and alpacas are at the top of my list! Unfortunately we're not set up with a barn or fencing yet.

Don't stop the antibiotics. If you stop use before the it has time to do it's job, the infection will come back worse than it was before and it will be harder to fight as well. You have to keep giving them for a while after the effects of the infection are gone to make sure the infection is completely wiped out. Towards the end of use only the strongest of the bacteria has survived. That is why it comes back so much worse.
