I got stuck following a plow to town at a meager 15mph... He had the full wing out so I didn't feel comfortable passing him. No need to cause an accident.

He did finally pull over an let me pass after several miles fortunately so I wasn't too late to work

Kinda Cool..I wrote this on my FB couple months ago when i was in one of those deep thought moods. And one of my friends sent it to Woman`s Day magazines They sent my a Letter asking me if they could use it in one of their upcoming articles about women and aging with wisdom.. here is what i wrote ````Wondering when i lost the girl that use to dance in the rain and sang when i cleaned and made love outside in the sun. seems like it was yesterday but yesterday was so many years ago.. that girl has been replaced with someone who seems to be what im told we are suppose to be at this age.. I am my mother, My grandmother and her Mother before her.. I am wisdom,,, But I miss my young Spirit....`````

Good Morning all! What a beautiful weekend! I actually didn't have too many outdoor chores to do. I try to get everything buttoned up for winter as soon as possible, so most of it was already done. Mostly I was chasing my dogs all over the countryside as they discovered deer gut piles. One of them also discovered that we have neighbors.... We've had this dog for seven years now and he has never wandered over to their place. He just would stop at the tree line if he was chasing something, but this past week his nose lead him to a gut pile on their property and from there he wandered to the house and up on their deck. He went visiting three times after that! It's like he just discovered they were there and decided he should stop over for daily visits. So now he has to wear a shock collar whenever he's outside. It doesn't actually shock him, I took the prongs off of it so it can't, but it beeps and this dog absolutely HATES things that beep!
Then yesterday the other dog followed her nose to another deer carcass a half mile away through the woods..... ugh! So this morning she had to be on a leash while the other one had his beeping collar on. One nice thing about having deep snow, it keeps the dogs from taking off too far!

Now I'm married with a little homestead and critters, I hate being away from home for even a day, I'm in my pajamas by 6:00 and in bed at 9. I feel like my younger self would be so disappointed in me....

Hi All im just checking in. ive been pretty busy but havent been doing much with the chickens. feed,water and give them treats. Its so cute they will come right to the back door and all stare in, If the know that i see them they will peek at the glass and let me know they want treats so i usally throw couple handfuls of mealworms out. And when they see me carry out the icecream bucket they will run as fast as they can and follow me in the run to see what I have for them... And the Hen that was in my shower is doing fine other then her bald head she is acting perfect. hopefully she stays that way...

That is all good news, Coffee! I am glad she is doing better. That surely has been an odd case though.


We woke to a pretty coat of white stuff. Unfortunately, it is also wet and heavy. YUCK! Not looking forward to heading out this morning to work in that! We are in for more of it later and through until tomorrow night. I think the weather folks changed their minds on how much we're supposed to get though, thankfully.
All I have out in smaller coops now is WLR Cornish and 3 Cochin cockerels. I started working to get the hoop up for the extra males but ran out of daylight after picking up and finishing covering the ends of the runs yesterday. I have to decide if I am going to cover the sheltered section of the runs with plastic now. I think if I do, I will keep it a little warmer for the birds, but might be enough to have moisture getting in there too, so still contemplating. I never run out of work to do though.

When I get up in the morning, I look in the mirror and wonder how my parents could have melded into this aging woman I see before me. In my mind I still feel like the young woman I once was, but with more wisdom. The child in me still lives there, one who is silly and playful and fun-loving, but I now see the world with such different eyes. My body reminds me almost daily that I am far from being young, but I am not even close to giving up and just sitting inside and knitting. As crazy as some think I am for it, I love doing what I do. Getting out every day keeps me feeling younger. I hope I don't ever have to stop, because if I do, then surely the end will be near.

It took me two hours to drive from Scandia to White Bear Lake.
Then decided this isn't worth it - telework today.

I wish I had that option. It has to be a pretty nasty storm to allow that for me
