Minnesota!

@KlopKlop I'm glad you fo found the infection. Hopefully it isn't systemic yet.

All you guys amaze me with how talented you all are. I don't like sewing or crafty stuff, my coop is the first woodworking type project I've done (I liked that except for the measuring part). I don't mind mechanical stuff, but now If I start something that my DS has to finish I can tell he gets a bit miffed as why I didn't just let him do it. I like to cook, but cooking for 2 isn't the same as cooking for 150. I guess my claim to fame is I'm pretty bomb proof when it comes to emergencies & can bandage most anything. I used to be a first aide instructor & would go around to Scout groups for their badges. When it came time to learn bandaging They always wanted to stump me on the hardest thing to bandage. Always could got it; little did they know I live by tape.

Speaking of the new coop...I almost have it done! Finished the west wall & dig in the run wire today. I have where I want the roosts, just ran out of time to get them up. Then move some of the nest boxes over from the other coop & smooth out the mud/dirt in the run. Then I'll see if the girls like it

I had a ton of scrape 1x6 & 1x1 left over from the remodel at our store. It's just been taking up space for 3yrs now. Chicken coop is as good as any place to use it. However it makes it look really nice! I find I want to put up molding to give it that finished look.

I bought the 8'x10' shed & hired most of the run. I did the hardware cloth & pop tunnel (the run & coop aren't attached because the ground hadn't settled. It will need to be re-leveled next year.)

Windows face west. That was what I finished today.

Maybe I can decorate it next year. I want to add some window boxes.
Really? WOW!! What a nice coop! So jealous.

So glad you figured it out, Klop. Can you give her some antibiotics?

Great news about your chicken, Coffee. I hope I didn't jinx this. ;-)
Try a pellet gun? Something to give that hawk a good sting but not hurt it. May scare it away for good? Just a thought.

Keep up the great reports Lala.

I have been so lucky to have so few problems (knock on wood). Once I do I may know just what to do.

aussiegal, that coop looks gorgeous! bet it feels good to use up the wood stored from the store. I know I am always happy to use up something that was too good to toss but that there was no immediate use for it.

Well, I got Goldie and her kennel out to the coop today. Took about 2 hours - had to do some rearranging to get a heat panel up, move some stuff, haul out the kennel - it is light but big enough to be very awkward and barely goes through doors.

WHen I picked her up I ws a little alarmed at how hot her skin was. So I hope there is no infection developing. She was alert in the coop, wanted out of her kennel, and when I put feed in front of other chickens right next to the cage, she did eat, but when the chickens left, she stopped eating. We'll see. This is her 9th day of recovery.

I have to say I am very happy to have her out of the bathroom. makes life so much easier.

Have a great day everyone.
Klopklop hope your hen is doing well today.

making cookies with family this weekend. Anyone have a favorite no bake xmas cookie recipe? with 9 people making cookies, oven space gets to be at a premium.

She seemed a bit better today. I will check her foot tonight and redress it. Hopefully I got all the infection out.
