Been busy playing in the dirt tonight just about have all of my plugs transplanted into bigger pots. I have all kinds of repurposed pots that i have saved over time, found around my farm, and also some washed/used solo cups! I have about 30 more tomatoes then they are done. Peppers are still quite small and will need more time before transplant

What kind of tomatoes are they? I am raising some wheat, kidney beans, and cherry tomatoes in cups just to observe how they grow, on a much smaller scale than this. That's awesome how much you have!

There are Roma, San Marzano, Chocolate Cherry, Brandywine (not pictured), and Pineapple tomatoes. there is probably about 100 plants or so. plus i have about 70 pepper plants too not pictured.

I am growing them for my garden and to sell at the farmers market. how are your tomatoes growing?

Oh wow, what are pineapple tomatoes like? That sounds like a fun business to do! They just sprouted yesterday, but are doing good.

You know, I gotta tell ya, ya make me laugh.

I don't mean to make you nervous, but those who reach for the hand and are bold, are usually cockerels.
Also, even my Buckeyes as chicks have specks on their wing tips. You can can't go by chick color to determine their adult color unless it is a solid black or white.
I would hope they didn't screw it up, but stranger things have happened. If that is what you ordered though and they do look a lot alike as chicks, there is no reason to worry or let me get you second guessing. Just enjoy the ride and hope they got them sexed right

I will say this though, my neighbor ordered all Red Production from Welp one year. They sent them all Dark Cornish. That was how I started with chickens, I got 8 pullets from her that summer.

well you did make my heart skip a beat the first time you said that about the welsummers haha i had no idea what SS chicks looked like and was suprised by the chipmunk stripes. I'm not that concerned now there is supposed to be 2 boys in there, so it very well could be the bold one. whatever they are, i love them and they will be a welcomed addition the the farm

They are a yellow and red mixed beefsteak type tomato. very sweet and the perfect eating tomato. the best kind in my opinion and great for a BLT.

This might surprise you, but I actually dislike tomatoes.

I am just growing them for fun! Those do look really cool though!

well if you stick with it, you can always feed them to your chooks. mine love tomatoes

Chickens go through 7 molts before reaching their adult plumage. The chicks you see now, and that coloring will change at least a couple of times before they get their true color, and even then, you won't see their mature color until after they molt their first time as adults. That is one reason some breeders won't use birds for breeding until after their first molt to make sure they are good on color.

Speaking of molt, I actually have some birds who are right now.

I started tomatoes over the weekend and they are starting to pop out of the 'dirt' today. I have to get those peppers going since they take longer. I should have done peppers first. I put the eggplant and artichokes in too, so not quite as many tomatoes as you Klop, just 60 or so. Of course, I put more than one seed in each pod, and sometimes I split them up since I can't just toss away a perfectly good plant! I am sure I will have a couple of extra trays of them come planting time and this year I may just sell those. I don't remember how many varieties I put in, maybe 15. I really want to can salsa this year, so I have plenty of those varieties that are good for that, mainly 'Fresh Salsa' from Burpee, but most of the others are heirloom from Seed Savers or a coupe of others seed sources.

I shipped my first batch of hatching eggs on Tuesday to Indiana. They arrived in excellent condition. I was worried I might have overpacked the box with bubble wrap, but the guy who got them said they were perfect. I am always nervous about shipping them.
