I got more pens cleaned but ran out of Sevin dust, so I need to make a run to Rochester to get some in the 3-pack from Home Depot or Fleet Farm, not sure which had that packaging of it. I moved some birds around, switched some roosters too, much to the displeasure of the Buckeye hens who aren't sure about this younger boy I stuck them with. I switched Welsummers roosters too. The others went out to the bachelor pasture and there was much raucous going on after I did that. It was late enough though, that by tomorrow I am hoping they are all getting along better.

DH mowed the pasture yesterday. I need to take the push mower and a weed trimmer out and do the fence though, then I will need to spray. I hate using chemicals near the birds, but the fence line has to get it, I can't keep up with the weeds that tangle and rot the fence otherwise. I have some old burdock to cut and burn in the section the Cochins are in right now. It really sucks when those fluff balls get burdock seed pods stuck on them.

I didn't get the rest of the peppers transplanted yet, I had to go and buy more pots to switch them too. I will probably pot some of them anyway and sell them as mystery peppers. They will be jalapenos or of two other varieties. I will keep one from each of the pods myself, may two. LOL I can't just throw them away!!!!

@Minniechickmama , I think about a year ago you identified one of my chickens....I can't remember the breed! I searched the thread and found the photos but couldn't find the answer.

What breed is she?

Hi everyone! Been busy around here the past few days. I am having a sucky time hatching... I set 50+ goose, turkey and duck eggs three weeks ago and only two goose eggs are viable. Very very depressing... I think I am gonna get a new incubator. Probably a big one like Ralphs.... Idk yet. All I know is I need a new one and not a foam one. I can just use the one I have now for hatching.... Decisions decisions....



Minnie these Buckeyes are bigger than one of my Easter eggers already! One of the pullets is smaller than the rest but I think she will catch up. I have shows I am planning on attending this summer. But just to watch. Not gonna bring anything. I think I will only go to Hutch and our local fair. Unless u have any u would recommend?


I really want to go see the birds at the breeders cup in Iowa this year! Sounds like fun!

So I was up at the local dairy queen and saw the kids and wife of the local teacher I used to pawn eggs off on. And I talk about restarting chickens. First thing that pops out of her mouth. Kwik trip sells eggs now for 99 cents. I couldn't help my self from telling her that her husband never paid for eggs from me. She also complained that they had to eat them and it's hard to go through eggs. She has 3 teen boys. Hmm no more freebies for that one even though her son is the one who always asked me for eggs when he saw me in the hallway.

No way! I gave a doz to a woman at work who was saying she had only ever seen white eggs. She seemed happy to have them, and next morning told me that she cracked them all open, removed the yolks and threw them out, and put the egg whites in the freezer in case she "ever needed them". She must be the teacher's wife's sister .

I know, I can't order eggs out when I am at a restaurant...just can't do it.

She is a mix, but she definitely has some Game in her.

That stinks! I hate when incubators have problems and screw up eggs! The GQF are nice, but a PITA to clean out good, you have to take the front and back off to get to everything.

Well, if you can get a ride down here, maybe you could go with me I wanted to go to the first one, but it was between Hutch and the Ohio National that year and I couldn't take off all that time and leave the kids to do all my chores, and hubby could get all that time away either.
