Minnesota!

Ah YES! Finally, thanks to Ralphie's tutorial : "How to post a pic on BYC 101" I was able to upload my picture that I tried to do a few days ago. This is the fella/lady that is spending lots of quality time here at our property. So far, it has just been cleaning up the pasture and has left my birds alone. I hope it stays that way! We have been able to walk within about 10 feet of it. Pretty cool!
LOVE IT!

Gorgeous owl!

I actually spent my day today painting the interior of the coop! My DH picked out some sort of indoor/outdoor sealant paint at Menards. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll be painting the wood on the run.
Fingers crossed that the electrician actually shows tomorrow AM like he said he would! Then we can move them all out to the Coop

Sounds like exciting things happening at your place!! Hope your electrician comes!

WOW! That looks pretty neat!! I will heed your advice and find something to paint the interior with. The roosts were made from pine so I should paint them too right? Obviously, I need to find the least toxic paint there is. Do you have a recommendation on the type to use?
There are a lot of low VOC paints out now, you can find some at any of the big box stores like Lowe's or Home Depot. I used a regular water-based latex exterior type. I would definitely paint the roosts, even though they may get scratched up.

I got some white barn paint for my coop interior I hope to find the ambition to get that done after a good clean out. I also have to touch up my coop door. It's looking a little chipped up lately. Always projects...

Thanks.  I can't believe how close this owl lets us get.  And yes, I can't start my day without my dose of the Minnesota thread with a cup of coffee.

Probably because we Minnesotans love to chat, especially over a cup of coffee. I am told we are famed for talking to complete strangers met in stores, doctors offices, the lines at Movie Theatres, Coffee Shops etc.

What about using Kilz paint for the sealing and mildew/mold killing or blocking properties? (And let it air out). Or is it better to go low VOC.

We painted our living room with a Behr low VOC paint this summer and I couldn't believe the difference. I used to get headaches when painting, no matter how well ventilated. Nothing!
