Chuckies I just bought some cedar for the nest boxes. I read/heard it helps keep mites and lice out of the boxes. Did not know about respiratory illness from it.

I guess it is up to a person to decide. This is what I've heard, so didn't use it. I heard the same thing when I had hamsters. I just did a search on the forums, some say ok, some say not. Some have lost chicks/chickens. Some have had no issue. Some use it 50/50 with pine and have no issue. Some say they give off toxins and have oils that can be toxic, others say no...

Short term contact is fine most people say. But I would think in a nest box or brooder, they are in contact with it quite a bit. I guess for me, I just do not want to risk it.
