Just for you Ralphie! I never said we didnt have any red, but when I do decide to run the 600 I like backhoes to be involved.

just stopping in for a quick hi!

you guys made my day/night last night. Had one of those days, was in a snarly mood, came home after work and sat down to 100+ posts and read, and before long laughing. Beats a whiskey anyday for mood enhancement. Thanks!!!

Am still having problems with eggs everywhere. flock seems to be laying in the nests just fine, but just about every day there is an egg (not from the same hen, diff colors all the time) laying in an odd spot in the yard or in the coop. Over the years, not surprised to once in a while find an egg somewhere, but this is ridiciulous, there is an egg out of place just about daily. Whats up? Can I assume this is a rat? and where there is one there are .....thousands? I have tunnels....no droppings.....no sightings.....and no one is touching the rat traps.

Well, if we are being totally honest, I might own a green tractor, but I prefer the red ones.

Holm Teens are known to have notably poor judgment when you mature you will turn to reds, I have faith in you...

Lala my chickens lay eggs in weird places all the time. The day before yesterday I had all of them in the coop. Yesterday I had 6 in a nest in the wood shed, 2 inside the beer fridge and one on the scrap iron trailer....

However, the day they were all in the coop 5 were on the floor under the nest box. My mother complained about them laying on the floor under the nests... Mom likes to pick eggs for some weird reason.

When I picked them the day after she complained and asked me to try and get them to stop laying there, I found a fake egg in the nest. When I asked who put the nest egg in the nest under the boxes she said " I did".

I then asked, "how do you think I am suppose to get them to stop laying there if you put a nest egg there to encourage them to lay there?"

Her reply " I dunno"

I was then forced to have another drink.. MY mother is trying to kill me by destroying my liver, I know it. She hates me.. OMG It is only 7am and I think I need another drink......

I will have to make do with coffee for a few hours yet..

Keeping the fingers crossed for less heat today! The girls looked less than pleased yesterday.

When I built my run off my coop I built it offf the west side, in hind sight I should have built it on the east side because of the shade trees. I dont have any shade on the west side... so that lead me to just release the girls yesterday after noon to free range and find their own shade. It was the first time they have ever free ranged and I was worried like im sure everybody does the first time they let a new flock FR if I would have to chase them back into the coop at night. Thankfully they all went in right after another. It was kind of sweet to see how their instincs just kick in like that.

So I need to ask you. Aren't you afraid the wind will blow your poor chickens to Bemidji?

BTW glad the free ranging went well. I think all chickens deserve to be free ranged...
