I am in the Twin Cities. I have a Rooster. Long story how he ended up here but the police came to my door this morning and I must find him a new home. I love him so much and I am devastated:( One out of all of the neighbors complains. Everyone else loves him. He is kind, funny, obedient. He crows is the problem. He has a lovely roost in the garage and he doesn't come out before 9 am. That isn't good enough for this one person, so now he must go. I wish there was a city ordinance for grouchy neighbors. We have had him for over a year. I need to find him a home THIS WEEKEND. The police officer said if I don't they will come and take him and have him "put down." Can you take him??? His name is Mr. Doodles. His beak has been clipped (Before we found him) and he is very friendly and pleasant. He goes nutso over grapes, just loves them. He is for sure a pet not an eating bird. I don't even know where to start to find him a safe and loving home. I found you and your profile says you love chickens and you are in Minnesota too so maybe you can help???

Have you tried craigs list? I saw someone last week looking for a nice rooster.

Anyone know where to find some FOR SURE hens that I could get around the west central area?
I live in town and dont want to stress whether I have a rooster or not! Would prefer one a year old or less :)
Where in west central Mn are you? I'm in Western MN and have 50 chicks that are 8 weeks old. I'm kind of tied up for the next month or so, but if you're still looking in July, maybe we can work something out.

Awesome, I am in Fergus Falls. I am in no hurry so just please keep me updated in the future. What types do you have?

Thanks!

I'm just going to put this out there. And I'm most likely wrong, but to me MrDoodles seemed kind of fishy.

Just my opinion, I had to say something.

Hi! Thanks for the reply. I did try craigslist and I think the guy I got had an ad on there that was code for something other than "Rooster" if you know what I mean..but we were able to find him a lovely home by the Grace of God! I am so happy! And he had never seen a female chicken and they have a few (now looking to breed so needed a nice, healthy fella). I guess Mr. Doodles is quite the ladies man! He had the job done within ten minutes.

So the plan now is to go to the city and have the ordinance changed to allow chickens and to get one of Mr. Doodles' daughters. I had no idea what absolute wonderful pets chickens could be!

I'll be back and let you allknow how it goes at city hall!

Congrats on finding us!!!! I have RIR's and Barred Plymouth Rocks and a few others. These two have done the best for me so far, I also have some Black Australorps but they were inside the basrment since January. Many others have good luck too, maybe they will give thier opinion.

I have columbian wyandottes, buff orpingtons, easter eggers, rhode island reds, and gold stars. They are all heavy breeds and pretty fluffy so they do well here. I also have cuckoo marans, welsummers, and blue analusians but I have not experienced winter with them yet.
