Don't know what to tell ya holm.

How hard is it to attempt to train a year old retriever to not chase birds or cats?  Not worth my effort?

I trained our 8 year old pit bull/lab not to chase birds and to be friends with cats and friends she is. It just takes a shock collar, sometumes if they kill something a swat in the rear end a time or 2. I hate hitting them but in the long run it can be worth it for being naughty and killing a bird. I dont mean full on beat them like my evil uncle did just a good swat. Hurts a little but easier than a electric collar that doesnt always shock when u need it to. I love my dogs and only shocked them 1 maybe 2 times but that is when they got away and started chasing and I couldnt stop them. I hate training an old dog its harder but my dog only took one shocks and thats it. It didnt have to get swatted like my aunt and uncles evil chicken killing mutt.

The dog has only chased and pinned chickens. Not killed and not all the time. Cats seems to really get its blood pumping though. Never trained a dog so I don't know if I should even try.

Where does orange fit with this group? When I bought my acreage I was in need of a tractor and my father passed on to me an AC WD45 that he bought from my grandfathers estate. I'm the 4th generation owner of it
