Minnesota!

I found a home for my 13 2 week old chicks

! This lady got them all for free... Lucky her I never would be able to find chicks for free. She breeds Muscovys but doesn't want more waterfowl. I tried to pawn my turkey and ducks off on her but she didn't want them.

Well we moved the chickens today... YIKES!!The fighting between families was crazy. They threatened to call the cops on me if I tookall MY chickens. It irritates me because they get the $2,000 coop. But thats not good enough for them. I was called a thief by my own Grandpa because I was taking the feed we bought. They also blamed me for cutting the cords on his duck decoys the other day which I didn't do. I don't know who did it but we haven't even been there. My brother said the framed me on it being they hate me and strive to get me in trouble. I'm just sick of family and don't care if I never see them again. I know this is not the place to talk about my problems but I had to get everything out.

Don't feel bad about needing to vent, most of us do the same thing on here.

Sorry that this is such a rough patch for you. But the bright side is that you have a better place to take your critters and yourself. I hope you got all your birds and never have to go back that. They should know better. You are a smart kid, but you are still a kid and they are supposed to be the adults. This will help you in the long run somehow, I am sure of it. And I believe in the old saying, "One one door closes, another one opens." You have your stuff and yourself in a better place from the sounds of things. Hopefully soon, this will all be just a memory. And if you have the receipts for stuff, then let them call the cops, they will look like the dummies.

After much more thinking, I have a big, beautiful Partridge Cochins who I have no hens for him to breed with. This coming year, what oddball hens I have are going into my Easter Egger pen with an Ameraucana rooster, so Blade will be in a coop with all my back up roosters. I hate to do that to him, so I am looking to re-home him. He is 4-years old, an excellent rooster and just a big gorgeous bird. So, I am willing to let him go free to a flock who could use a rooster. I hate to just post him and have someone eat him, I would rather keep him than do that and give him a couple of hens somehow, I would just rather not have to make another coop for winter just for that.
If anyone wants to come and get him, let me know and you can come for him when you get a chance or can find someone to pick him up.

His name came when he lost all the points on his comb and all that was left was the "blade" portion of it. ;)

If I do end up keeping him in the end, I may keep a Blue Cochin hen or two and make some Blue Partridge babies

Minnie-He is gorgeous!

Ralphie-I am unable to consummate a cow/chicken trade with you. I can barely squeak the money for one cow let alone 2. Bummer. And if your standards are like EJB's I will never find one that will suit you!! The PRESSURE!!

I have an opportunity to receive a female golden retriever dog free of charge from a family member who opted to keep the mom instead. The family member is a very honest with me so I know what I am getting. I really have never trained a dog but I can try. The family member said that they would take the dog back if we can't make it work. I said I felt 3 months would be a minimum of trying. Does that seem fair? Also, two of my in laws have siblings of this dog. So I am familiar with their behaviors. DH doesn't want to try but I would be the one training.

Holm-You have been given sound words of advice and encouragement from the others here so I won't repeat it. Things are going to get better. We are always here when you need us.

Thank you @NikonD2xer , @holm25 and @Bogtown Chick for your advice with the dog training. I have already read those posts like 3 times each!!
Sorry for your loss Nikon.

@BlanchRanch, how long would you keep them in buttermilk?
Although buttermilk sounds good. I would put some butter in between the skin and the meat with some fresh garlic so it could baste as it cooks. Onion powder, sea salt, black pepper and just a little tiny cayenne sprinkled on the top. Then some paprika for color. When having a bird as wonderful as I think yours must be, I would take the opportunity to stuff it with a onion, sage and garlic stuffing mix. Don't like stuffing? Just stuff it with large pieces of onion and some garlic for extra flavor.

Nikon2Dxer. Wonderful choice in cameras. I always go Nikon when I can.
Thanks. I love my Nikons even though i don't use them much anymore.

Seems like everyone with a digital camera is a pro these days. I gave up on shooting weddings and let uncle Larry, Moe and Curly do it.

I got tired of dragging 40 lbs of camera gear around with me everywhere just for fun.

I consider it practice for lugging feed sacks around.
