Minnesota!

If you really want to kill off the seeds, solarize it. That's basically cover it with black plastic for several weeks so the ground below get hot & kills the weed seeds. That will kill seeds up to 6 " deep. then don't till it. Tilling brings up more seeds. I personally don't like using RoundUp where I'm planting food crops. Rotation is a great idea, chicken poop will really add to the ground.  I would get a pH tester to make sure the soil doesn't get too hot with the poo. Just food for thought.

I did my homework on solarization but i don't think it will work for me for 2 reasons:
1) cost - tarp is expensive and the area is very large
2) I don't have 6 weeks between when all my tomatoes and peppers are out and where the weather will be good enough for it

I try my best to avoid chemicals especially around my food but I am hoping having the winter for the roundup to dissipate will be enough. I can also run a layer of cover crop (thinking buckwheat and vetch or mustard)) before i plow.

Having no idea how to get through a gazillion posts today, instead, here is a photo of MiniMax, our newest member of the family.

While I was gone they integrated themselves.

Is Minimax the black and white one? What is it? Looks great!

One of my ten pounders rode the smoker today. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Nummy!! Wish I could do that. I may try a few cx's an the risk of getting in trouble. ;-)

I'm bummed.

One of my Jersey babies wandered away from the flock. Rosie found her.

Yes, my girl is a pullet. Not quite sure how long she has been laying. Maybe these are her first eggs? Not sure. I am keeping a close eye on her and will check her crop and what not tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas. I will be using layer feed for the entire flock just my personal choice but nothing against those that don't. I do offer free choice oyster shell. Maybe she needs a few soft shell eggs to get into the swing of things maybe she could be a hen with laying problems. Gonna keep a close eye on her though.

Oooo more puppy pictures!!! Can't wait to see wild child.

Welcome @Little Bend. I want pictures of turkey's too,
