Minnesota!

if you pass the OLD Coborns now the thrift store and cross over rum river there is that round about there now.. keep going forward and its on your left side . and i lived between Rodney and Donna Kreisel and Robin and Joel Johnson. we bought the little summer cabin and converted into year round living we built a big story and half garage. robin and joel bought it from us..

OMG!! Really

Joel was my best friend in high school. We did everything together. Robin's family had a cabin on Cantlin lake when we were kids, the cabin was on the south end of the road. He was in our wedding.

I have known Rodney forever, When I was in college I drove school bus with his Dad. I have not seen either of them in years because I am a hermit and moved out of the area in early to mid 70s.

Bad day here yesterday, in addition to great day with the baby...

Ernie has disappeared. I noticed him missing at chicken TV time. I am surprised by this. I did not expect to have something take a rooster. Ernie is/was a big rooster and not a whimp. He spent most of the day sparring with JJ and had decent set of spurs.

I thought he might just have missed chicken TV time and spent it in the woods eating raspberries. I walked around the whole place looking for feathers or a sign of a fight, nothing.

I am guessing I have a major predator back. I am going to have to move my schedule ahead on splitting the flock and confining them.

Dang, I needed him. I have a couple teen age BA's but they do not seem to have gotten his looks..... I may need a new rooster for next spring now.

Someone asked to see his picture yesterday. When I still thought he would be here today.

Just awful. I hope he decided to take a walkabout.

Here he is growing up. I bet crowing soon. The other boys he was raised with all looked like girls and didn't crow either...yet.

4 weeks, already pink comb

6 weeks red

This whole batch of chicks was slow to feather, at least the boys were.

Males are slower to feather in most breeds. And if he was that red that early. I think crowing is in the future. Oh well. I just got feedback from a fellow in Iowa who got a batch of Cochin chicks this year and 11 were males 3 were females. I felt terrible, but I could sex them and I didn't have any others then.

My little sister is in labor with her first baby!

Congrats soon Uncle Cyrus!

Ralphie I asked for the picture of Ernie and I'm sorry you can't find him. Crap! He's really pretty and I see his tail is on the high side. My Hatchery NH is the same way. But He still gets gasps and awes when folks pull into the yard. And he's not a show bird just my eagle/ hawk/ raccoon/skunk/wolf/ bear look out that's all.

I hop you figure out Ernie. He may have saved you other flock members though...just never know.

Tomorrow we leave for a 4 day RV trip to Fall Lake. Can't wait. Packing everything up tonight and then we're off.

Ralphie-sorry about you missing Ernie! I really hope he shows up today for you!! Your turkey poult is SPOILED!! :)

Cyrus-Congrats for you and your little sister! I love it!

Bogtown-hope you have a great time camping! Your BLR wyandotte is it hatchery or breeder? I can hardly find any info here on BYC about the blr's. I have read all the threads at least 2 times. Do you have any pictures? I ordered 6 from Mcmurray and I MAYBE have 2 pullets. Trying to get an idea of what they could look like. They are all different especially the ones I think are cockerels. I am really hoping they are good roos I would love to keep some gorgeous eye candy.

Quote: They have fixed a little bit more of 210 so that you can at least get to Oldenburg Shelter now and a bit past that to Jay Cooke Road that will take you into Esko. Fond Du Lac side is still just to the power plant. Not sure what the plan is, but they did build a bridge where the major washout had been. My son says that if you go on Google Maps you can see that the road still goes all the way through but parts are gravel. It is just a wait and see event. The majority of people in this area would love to see it reopened. It has always been a favorite drive of ours!

I was surprised they did not fix it right away. My wife and I owned the old Laundromat in Carlton for 20+ years, over half of the Laundromat business was Jay Cooke/Hwy 210 related. Once Hwy 210 was closed, we could not afford to keep it open anymore, so we closed it and sold it to the guys that put the new one and the apartments up.

If that much of our business came off that scenic hwy I would think the other more tourist type businesses lost even more.
