An error on my part caused our drake to get hurt. I had a foot trap out for weasels and I thought I had it far enough in the box that the birds would leave it alone. Nope. Yesterday morning we found him caught in it. His upper bill was snapped in the trap. We managed to get the trap off and he has been acting relatively normal for the last 2 days. I think he will be fine but I tell you what I feel like crap. At first sight the kids and I thought he was going to have to be put down. Many tears! How many birds have to suffer because of my mistakes?! AAHHH!

On a better note, the little duckling is doing well. He is being cared for by both the hen ducks and the 2 drakes keep him in line. All are sleeping and hanging out together 24-7. A relief for me. I wasn't sure how the others were going to behave.

In chicken news, all is good. Still have the soft shell egg though. I don't know how to fix that yet. Layer feed and oyster shell are available at all times. Vitamins are given once a week in water. ?????? Wouldn't things have worked themselves out by now if it were just a new layer getting into the swing of things??

What vet do you go to? I go to All pets in Zimmerman. he is the best vet ever! Be prepared to stay awhile, he'll talk your ear off, but it is great! I don't have any experiece with doggy diapers, but thinking I need some for my girl on prozac. it is nice your puppies are so long lived, great job mom!

Hi, I use to live in Zimmerman well we had a Zimmerman address but lived on the Princeton county line and my son went to Princeton schools.. we lived on Cantlin Lake for about 10 years. I have never heard of the All Pets they must be fairly new, I think there was a small pet shop for a while called all pets... in Princeton there is vet Princeton veterinary ..there are 2 vets this one is the one down by the little gas station and that little park not the one by Corburns He is Awesome he is an old time vet that does everything mice to horses they are very good and the prices are fair. and i also have been to the vet on 169 on the left hand side right before you get to Princeton it has log siding... WOW it cost a small fortune to even been seen there...I know your happy with your vet and thats good but just in case you ever have an emergency there are a couple options for you....

I go to the Vet in the log siding. Northland Vet center I think it is. There is another one in Zimmerman I don't recall the name, It is a block off 169, The clinic sits where my Grandpa's garage and chicken coop where....

if you pass the OLD Coborns now the thrift store and cross over rum river there is that round about there now.. keep going forward and its on your left side . and i lived between Rodney and Donna Kreisel and Robin and Joel Johnson. we bought the little summer cabin and converted into year round living we built a big story and half garage. robin and joel bought it from us..

Is that Dr Joel's practice? I haven't found where he went to. I go to Corcoran Pet Care and ONLY see Dr Ian Drumond. Barrington Oaks in Elk River is too expensive for fufu type care. Aussie Rescue MN takes dogs to Kimble & sometimes St Frances. My Aussies are spoiled, but not rotten. When I was at the stores regularly they would come with to meet/greet customers. They are with me most of the time, but when I have to leave them at home I door they can go out, just won't work for winter.

Did I miss the puppy picts?

Yes, Dr joels practice, I believe he used to be in princeton, that is where my dh used to take his pets when he lived in princeton great vet! Yes, all pets does horses, everything, even chickens. It is out of our way, we live in nowthen. But it is worth it.

I used to go to st. Francis, but they have high turn over. I lost a cat due to a misdiagnoses there, so left.

I fostered a dog through mn Aussie rescue. I'd love to do more, but one of my dogs (not my aussie) hates other dogs, hence why she is on the prozac (she keeps attacking my other dog, my aussie) once she is gone I'll probably foster again as my aussie loved that foster dog, loves to play)
