Minnesota!

You are talking "gallon" size freezer bags?

I wonder what would happen if I use my vacuum packer/sealer.

OR those reusable vacuum bags for clothing and blankets....Hmmm

Let me know what the Bulk place charges and  what you think of the mix.  I am too cheap to pay 18 bucks for a bag of anything... Except I paid 18 bucks for my bag of rye for seeding...

I am thinking either 4 gallon or 10 gallon garbage bags. Probably the 10 but only filling partially full to allow plenty of extra bag for vacuuming and sealing.
I think the vacuum sealing bags would be cost prohibitive for making haylage. The blanket vac bags might be good especially since you could reuse them

I used half of the bag of barley in my scratch mix and have been saving the other half for sprouts. Realistically they aren't that much more than BOSS which are $16 for 40 lbs on sale here

When I was 8 or 9 shoveling silage with Dad, now that I think about it he did probably loosen it for me. Ha. Can't wait to talk to him about this.
He's been off a farm for years but he treats his yard on the lake just like one. The old farmer in you never dies. I must have got a good enough dose myself. His garden is huge and immaculate. And of course he's nabbing my winter bird droppings to replenish the nutrients.

Haha goodness forbid if I need to step over a chunk of haylage! But I will tell you that after that thing froze the birds took no interest in scratching or jarring their heads to peck at it. On thing I've learned about those chickens is they'd rather eat cut grass then that that is fresh and requires extra energy to pull from a stem or chip from a frozen block. ...and I think I did stumble a couple times. X2 KlopKlop on bringing ideas here. Were all in this together.

Aussie. Thanks for your compliments and I sure hope all the medical stuff works itself out. Sip and savor your vino and come here any time u need. Hugs.

That goulash is pretty cheap to make. Especially if you use venison burger. The kids love it. I have a ton of leftovers for the week. I'm not as crazy about it as I used to be either. can only eat so much macaroni. Do you all put beans and corn in yours too?

Last night I changed out my wood nest boxes in one coop for ones made of old milk crates. Then should work much better. I have still been fighting to keep them from laying eggs on the floor since they insist on kicking all the straw out of all but 2 nests. The bottoms are now 4" deep instead of 2" or so

I have not eaten goulash in 50 years!

As I recall it, my mother used LARGE chunks of home canned tomatoes, some hamburger, (we always had beef, because we had cows) and macaroni.

Maybe some onions if she had some. The only spices were salt and pepper.

BTW I dislike tomatoes, I will eat them if I cannot pick them out. I will not eat large chucks! I do not eat tomato soup.

I dislike macaroni in any form. I have been to the "olive garden" once. that is enough times for any 1 lifetime.

Lol. I used to be the same way about tomatoes then I started growing my own. Then I tested some heirloom varieties- one called purple Cherokee that tastes like a piece of fruit. It's so sweet and delicious. I love them with fresh mozzarella basil olive oil and balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper. Drool. My waistline does not exist any more but it's from wheat and I need to not eat that crap. ... I'll just feed it to my skinny kids.

GREAT NEWS..

MY wife left for work and called to tell me there was a dead coon on the road less than a 1/4 mile from here!

I think I have a coon problem..

Cousin Cyrus bring your dogs and lets get us some coons!

Did somebody say coon huntin' ?!?
