Minnesota!

How can anyone not know where Nowthen is?  It was near the center of the universe when I was growing up. It had Twin Lakes roller rink in it. Which was open Wednesday,Friday, Saturday (private parties) and twice on Sunday, Afternoon and evenings.  It had the largest number of out dated 45s on hand for us to skate too, I was there almost every night it was open...

It was a meeting place for kids from Anoka, St Francis and Elk river schools. My first crush happened in Nowthen My first date was taking a girl to Nowthen, (hint to you young guys, DO NOT TAKE A NON_SKATING GIRL TO A ROLLER RINK!.  There will be no second date if you do.

Now Nowthen has the Antique tractor show. How can one miss that?

Rattling over, have a great day.

I grew up in Grand Forks ND and Park Rapids. I lived (unfortunantly) for 10 years in Maple Grove and Brookly Park in my late twenty's and early thirty's but never made it to Nowthen. Sounds like a great place! Especially since it had a roller rink. I'm old enough to remember my first date with a girl was the roller rink in Grand Forks. Slow skating to Bee Gee's and Debbie Boone were the highlight of the night even though I couldn't skate backwards with my date like all the cool older kids.

Thankfully my dates could all roller skate!:D

No Roller rink anymore, but I do enjoy living here!

Too funny Ralphie. You're my first giggle today on BYC.

Sour crop is a tricky one. I've heard of the feminine remedies before and you are on the right track. Minnie is right about vomiting and clearing the crop. Then you may try some of your medicine on the emptied crop for a day or two. Let it fight off the yeast giving water only. Restart slow on the food as Minnie Described. Create mashes with water in the food. gently increasing the amount. As much as there is a chemistry happening in the crop there is also usually a physiological distension of the crop and it doesn't usually bounce back to it's usual shape after being stretched out. Often folks will see the sour crop return again and again due to the crop not emptying. Some people will put a piece of cloth or ace patch that can distend but also keep the crop pushed back and assist the crop in emptying. Youre bird may require such a device for a couple months or so.

Also I think there are just some birds that are little piggies and you might find gluttonous behavior makes them prone to the issue and it may not be a bird you want to keep.

I have Bag Balm as my go to frostbite prevention. It gets waxy in the cold and stays on really well. I reapply every two days if we're in a long run of cold.

Great day today!

I am getting very tired of this cold...

Truck refused to start. Ground fault plug in for truck keep tripping......

Tailgate latch is frozen... Chickens were all on nests this AM, I was not able to get back to coop until 4pm...17 eggs,,13 frozen cracked and ruined...

I am trying to remember why I left Florida to come back to Minnesota....

I am steaming the eggs to hard boiled state, crushing them and feeding them back to the birds.

When I'm able (retired) I'll be out of here so fast all you see is a Joe shapped puff of smoke like you see in the cartoons. I've lived here almost all of my 49 years and I simply hate and dread winter anymore. It's downright miserable and unfit for human habitation.

They grow chickens in Arizona, right? :)

I understand....

However do you?

I was gone like greased lightning when I retired...

Then along came Grandkids.... Guess who was forced back to MN by his DW?

Wanna buy a house on the gulf of Mexico with a 70 ft dock and 2 boat lifts, pool and spa???

I'm ready to go south! So tired of the cold already, I think I was close to getting frostbite this evening myself

. Can't seem to keep a waterer unfrozen, bought a heated poutry waterer today at fleet farm, I don't hold out much hope though, says it is good to 0 degrees, cripes! I have bag balm here, should I use that instead of the vaseline on the crops and waddles? I've not had any cracked eggs yet, my nesting boxes are insulated maybe that helps with that?
