Minnesota!

Minnie has OEs.

Welcome new Minnesotans. What a great "winter day"!

I like the TSC shavings. They are bigger flakes than the marth shavings. But fleet farm and l&m have marth. (1 hour away) and my closest TSC is in Elk River. 2 1/2 hours away.

I can bring you some when I go to my cabin,

I heard Duluth was getting a TSC. But that could be rumor.

I'm from Mower County in Minnesota :)

Welcome CrazyChick86!

Dandelioness, that'd be super! My chicks are arriving late April anyway so waiting awhile is ok with me. (Btw, I got Harvey Ussery's Small-Scale Poultry Flock in the mail today, I couldn't resist.)

Leaves are a great idea. We have 3 Chevy Suburban loads full of them in the fall so you're welcome to ours, too! I'll call Peterson's about the pine shavings. Some online shop wanted $20 for a big cube and no way!

Thank you everyone, as always you're so helpful.

Happy reading! I love that book!

I'd for sure trade you some leaves for some fertile eggs or some chicks. IDK if olive eggers ever qualify as show birds, but mine are just backyard birds - although I will be separating them out for the appropriate time to be sure of whose eggs are fertilized by which rooster. I'm putting an EE roo over some cuckoo Marans hens, they are all very nice looking IMO but I'm not a breeder, just to be clear. If you look around and find someone you'd rather go with, like Minne, no offense taken. I'll just pm you when it's time to set aside eggs and see where you're at then - we'll just eat the extra eggs anyway! :)

I'm really not looking for show birds at all! Just some friendly girls that'll be happy in my yard and fairly tolerant of my large brood of family. We have our own scratch and dents at this house so I can't expect better from the hens! I don't have an incubator or I'd love it. Maybe down the road, but I'll gladly pay for chicks. Please do PM if/when you have them. Thank you! Or certainly trade for leaves, too. In the fall, though, really, take as many as you want for free. The kids rake them and you're free to take them!
