Minnesota!

I am so sorry to read about everyone's losses. This just plain bites.

I hate to add to this, but out of the 24 eggs from McMurray, only three have hatched.

Am not feeling optimistic..

Maybe bites wasn't the best choice of words.

Maybe not the best choice of words, BUT the best choice would have gotten you a private email from a moderator and a years worth of double secret probation. I know this from personal experience.

Oh, Ralphie. Your wife must be so patient and tolerant! Never in a million years would my DH do anything like that. The most help he is with the chickens is opening the coop door for them in the morning (and he will feed/water if I'm away or ill).

Oh sure, blame it on the wife

I see no one else I can blame this one, other than my deadbeat ex-renter..

Sure he would!

Load up 3 incubators with eggs and take off for some tropical place and see if he does not step up and hatch the babies. No one can resist baby chicks!

So sorry for your losses as well. :(  how horrible that you have to put up with your neighbors dog which your neighbors can't control.  We had a similar issue with our neighbors dog. She attacked my dog, Brox (my aussie), in my yard.  then after he healed about 6 weeks later (he got a terrible infection, costed us a few hundred), she tried to attack him again (this after I went and had a talk with them about her needing to always be on a leash if she is outside). I grabbed him up in my arms and held on tight. I was hysterical. I was on my knees holding him and crying. my husband was trying to make me give Brox to him, the neighbor man was just standing there, he is in his 70's, no way can this couple control this pitbull. So after that I fenced in my whole back yard. all 3.5 acres.  My puppies can't get in the front yard. My chicken coop and chickens when they free range are in the back yard.  It is a horrible place to be in when your neighbors do nothing.

So irresponsible! But you did a wise thing, fencing in your yard.

I hope your neighbor dog problems are at rest for a long, long timd.

Dog bites are nothing to fool around with. I lost a Sheltie to a bite. We never knew she was bit until it was really infected, then the vet (not my regular vet) only gave her 1 week of antibiotics. 2 wks later, I had to make a second trip to the vet to get 2 wks of meds. A month later we lost her. once the infection gets systemic it can be hard to knock out. Aussies are so sensitive too. My son's Aussie got mean after another dog attacked her; get them before they get you attitude. She went after my Aussie girl & that really changed my Lady Zadie also.

Dogs eating chickens, not good. I'm so sorry for everyone's loses.

I agree, Aussies are very sensitive. when he sees her out in her yard, even though there is a fence between them, or a wall if he is in the house, he cries because he is scared. so sad. He used to love other dogs, now he gets scared when other dogs get close.

I finally caught up on all of the new posts! So much loss being had. Sad to read. As a dog owner, I'd be absolutely devastated if my dog went after a neighbor dog, chickens, or anything on their property. It's my job to control him and make sure he knows his boundaries. It's just something you do when you own an animal. It sucks that some dog owners don't take ownership seriously. I understand that accidents happen, but make it right and make sure it never happens again.
