Minnesota!

Oh thank goodness Ethel is still kicking. Bless her heart.

My dad disassembled a manure spreader, hoisted it to the roof of his high school with an accomplice and then reassembled it on the roof.

I had a class mate ride his motorcycle down the hall way past study hall also. That was kinda fun and rebellious.

I bet many administrators were not very happy either, along with cooks, teachers and janitors.

As a former school board member, I can identify with them also..

I miss the days when kids were expelled for letting a raccoon loose in the cafeteria, instead of shooting up a school.

Hate to one-up you all but I had a police record by the time I started first grade and was kicked out of Montessori school for throwing rocks through windows.

Oh, no! Hope you find a home for her. We already have one pregnant stray here.

Good luck on your cat problems Holm.. You are having a lot of problems with 4 legged critters lately, I hope it gets better.

My eggs that I had marked to hatch on the 22nd, Finally gave me a chick this Morning. I was going to throw them all out today, Now I guess I will keep them another day. They are Guinea eggs. I mark them 25 days from when I put them in. This one hatched on the 29th day!

We had a guy that lives in the field, ( land we use to own and farm that we sold to a housing developer) stop by for eggs yesterday, a first time customer. He had his 8 year old daughter with him. When they were getting the eggs she was standing at the bottom of the steps looking longingly at the chicks running around. I asked her if she wanted to see them and she got the biggest grin.

I took them over and showed them the birds, Avian flu be danged (did that get censored?) it was worth the risk to me to see her smile and enjoyment at the birds. She petted JJ, and would "gobble" at him so he would gobble back. Every time he gobbled she laughed. I caught one of Bert's fat little babies for her to hold, again it was great to see the joy she was having. The poor chick was scared poopless, so it just aid in her arms and didn't move. She took that as a sign the bird loved her. She told her Dad she wanted chickens, he started asking all kinds of questions about them. I am assuming she has rabbits now as she asked if she could get one and if it could live in the rabbit pen. I think they spent nearly and hour "getting" eggs.

Ed decided to act inappropriately, he grabbed a hen behind the head and tried to mount her, I was a tad nervous about that. The father said, "oh, looks like she's about to get an education"

I said " Oops sorry it happens on a farm"

He just laughed.

Luckily The hen broke free from Ed and got away. Innocence is preserved for another day!

I moved my broody hen from the coop and put her in the guinea gulag with a dozen eggs, she managed to break one fighting me on whether that was were she wanted to be. I have not looked at her this morning, it was dark when I put her there so I am hoping she settled down to hatch them.

That is so sweet! That little girl is probably telling everyone she sees about her adventures with you!

It's a chick miracle! One of our Icelandic babies had a goofy leg. It was splayed out to the side and he was walking funny. On closer inspection he seemed to have a tiny wound or deformity near the knee (???). Anyway, I used a bandaid to tape his legs together (which he did not care for as he repeatedly tried to peck me) and let him be. This morning I found that little Forrest Gump had broken free of his brace and is off and running! Hallelujah!
