Minnesota!

Last night I built a temporary chook tunnel from the coop to my fenced garden so that the chickens could go over and eat up all the weeds and bugs but with the crazy weather I didn't open the gate this morning.

I'm pretty sure we had lightening strike in the hayfield adjacent to the house this morning. That and torrential rains made for a fun drive into town for work

No kidding! My commute was 90 minutes! What will happen to driving brains when it snows?!

DS coming home from Red Wing tonight. He has some clothes to wash. Ah yes, at least I am still needed. (and he picks my house over his mom's so heck ya I will take it!!

I must have done something right!) He works house repo clean up/minimal construction for a local company. Dirty job sometimes.

I have three 10 week old roosters if anyone is interested, they are mutts. One is an EE, I think he'll be very handsome! if I was going to keep one he'd be it, but I don't know if I want to keep any this year. Another is also good looking and the other looks kind-of barred rockish.
Between Brainerd and Pine River.

Hi @erlibrd ! You have the most gorgeous roosters. So I'm sure that one is a looker.

Rhetts I must say I will be offering up laundry services so I can see those kiddos after they go off to college or jobs or whatever. I'm going to be a horrible empty nester. Not looking forward to it at all.

I have some puppy training progress news. Sadie had a weak moment and actually it was a mixture of human error and not exactly her fault. But my DS threw her fetching toy out in the yard with my chickens spread out which caused Holly my BA to jump and flutter. Upon going to fetch the toy the dog went after Holly and other chickens. We proceeded to chase Sadie with a broom and chastise her. (She was pretty scared of the broom and the chastising--so hardly a spanking was needed) I felt really down in the dumps about the chasing and figuring I had my work cut out for me. Next morning she went with me to let out the chooks and she sat there looking at them. Not intense but then when I told her they were "Miiiine." She looked away from them. Today, same thing. Down to the coop with me. Sitting in the middle of chickenville. No chasing/ behaving beautifully.

So definitely she gets the energy for hunting and the energy for "Myyyy Chickens." Down in the dumps no more. Definitely optimistic. And I think she's going to hunt like crazy for DH and DS. She stalks, points, flushes, sits, stays, fetches. I almost hate to say this but she is easier to train than Jasmine ever was. She's a little sponge.

Bat crap crazy is a over used word in our house. Granted people dont use crap most of the time....

I witnessed a 12-13 week old rooster breeding hens today!!!! Early start...

I hate it when the group picks on one or two until the point of blood.  Never fun!  I love the name too BTW!  I named my two white rocks Dolly and Bo.  (Dolly Parton & Bo Derek)  Oh, and the blu-kote, I bought the spray kind and the pour out of the bottle kind.  The spray kind works WAY better IMO
If I can find the blue kote today, how long to you think I should wait to try re-introducing her?

GoFeedthegirls. How did you fair the storm. We got a little this AM. Just a clap of thunder and rain.

We lucked out I think. Had some oak tree branches on the ground but thats about it as far as damage. We missed the hail at home by a few miles but a couple of my fields got hit again. Lots of thunder and lightning but only about 7/10ths of an inch of rain.

Until the wounds are healed over Klop Klop and no red marks are visible. Or until the blue kote gets applied. You'll find it though. It's in even the smallest farm supply store. Sooo easy to find.

Red is a picking color. If I wear a red shirt in the yard my rooster gets Bat Crap crazy.

Yeah once the blu-kote is on I let them back in. I watch for awhile to see what happens but things generally have gone well.

As far as DS goes, I am glad he wants to come here. He actually wants to come and hang out with us and let me wash his stuff still. (you know how particular some kids can be about their things!

) Of course the younger kids LOVE when he is home and I know he loves it too. Funny when they change from being the kid to having adult conversations and then letting them go off on their own to make their choices. I kinda like this new relationship. I have no idea how in the world I will manage with all the kids grown and gone. I just might spiral into a crazy chicken collecting addition.

Gofeedthegirls-glad things didn't get too bad for you.
