What breed is she? I love black chickens. She looks like one of my young BA.s. But it seems everytime I say BA it ends up being a BSL. She is hiding her toes, so I can't tell..

BTW a clean coop is not healthy in my world. I think a dirty coop filled with tons of germs and yuck makes a healthier chicken with more natural resistance. I truly would like to clean my coops more, but I leave them dirty for the health of the birds...

Which too gets the pardon....the one that looks like he's on duty all the time but kind of scares me with his all knowing intense eyes, or the big fat sweet boy who makes Intense Eyes do all the work?

You know Ralphie i cant tell if you are being serious or not about the coop being clean versus dirty,, is that like a kid that plays in the dirt has a higher resistance to germs? do you really think the same goes for chickens or are you joking???

Heya, some of you might know I picked up one of Erlibirds roosters and after a week of quaratine and during the day having him outside in a fence that my existing birds could see him 24/7. Well today was going to be the same as everyother day carry him out to the fence to pick around all day and what not but some how he managed to weasle his way out of my hands and ran right up to the girls who were already outside.

So far so good. He is actually a little smaller than the rest of the flock so we deemed him little red. Anyways is it normal for the new rooster to almost go down the line of hens and assert his dominace right away? He will walk around a hen with one of his wings on the ground and apparantly if the hen doesnt respond right he will do a quick peck and send the hen squaking and running away. Is this normal?

Depends on the rooster. Ole did the wing drop and dance with every hen he saw. He did not peck that I know of, or noticed. (it should be noted again, Ole was a serial rapist)

Ed seldom does a the dance, He just walks up and does his thing. Ernie does the dance some but not all that often. So,, the answer is, I dunno,...
