Minnesota!

A pea sized blob of horse dewormer (Safeguard) per bird for large fowl. Or Valbazen (goat stuff, but expensive). Both of those are broad spectrum dewormers. Or Wazine in the water as per bottle directions, but doesn't take care of tapeworms.

So at lockup tonight sure enough i was short one white leghorn. I spent 15 minutes stomping around the yard getting stung by nettles before i gave up. I went inside to put the pullets up on the roost (they are just learning how) and there sits Gloria in one of the nest boxes. No eggs, just hanging out and sleeping. I pulled her out and put her on the roost. She is shooting blanks nor do I want to let her hatch any at this time of year by giving her eggs so hopefully i will disrupt her before she gets broody. She spent the whole afternoon outside and wasnt ornery with me so maybe she is just looking for privacy.

At what age to start?

I do t deworm any under 6-months unless I am certain they have them. Otherwise, I deworm in Fall after everyone has been on pasture for a few weeks, just before breeding season starts for me. It is recommended to do it twice, once in Spring and once in Fall.
