Minnesota!

We got goats. They share an enclosure with the chickens. Had to make the pop door smaller twice and Irene the goat can still get in the coop. They are currently making a bunch of noise and I feel very sorry for their insecurity. In one picture you can see an old propane tank, which I thought was a little redneck.
Aren't they adorable!

We just got a couple of Nigerian Dwarf kids (sister and brother - he's a wether) in July. Hubby was very against getting them - but he has warmed up to them quite a bit. They are so fun to watch!

You should make a farmer test!

Have you ever played Cow pie toss?
Do you know what it means to checking wire is for corn?
Why check corn?

BTW I have a bale carrier in my woodshed, the barn burned down 10 years ago.
Have you ever pulled a calf?
Do you know what that means?

Minnie could add to this list she is old farm kid too.

What is a witness tree?

Have you ever dehorned cattle?
How do you milk a 3 teated cow? (BTW I hate the clean word Teat, we never used that on our farm)

Have you ever used a dump rake?
Hay loader?

Why are IH tractors superior to Green ones? ( easy question)
What does row crop tractor mean?

Approximately how many bales went on a hayrack?

Where was a Minnesota manure spreader made?

When the baler miss ties a bale what do you do?

What does a hay conditioner do?

Why do you not feed wet clover to bovines?

Have you ever put your arm up a cows butt?

How many days after a cow freshens do you dump/or use on the farm the cows milk?

What happens when you get your "city" cousin to grab or pee on an electric fence?

What is surge famous for?

What was a hammermill used for?

What is swatting?

Bantiesrule some suggestion for the " I am a farmer test"
I guess i would get a ZERO on the Farmers test...guess i have to be a city slicker... BUT i Dont want to be...

I'm so wanting more chickens, lots of different varieties... hubs says NO! not til spring :( ugh! it gets so cold up here in 'north country' that I am sure he is right.... we need to scale back our Roo population too. Keeping one RIR roo and the 2 banty roo's to be with the girls for the winter. then mix it up with chicks in the spring. hoping to get a broody hen to hide a few babies at a time under? maybe? jealous of those adding at this point of the summer!

Welcome @jewelsong . Last time I checked, for every roo you cull = 2 hens added. I'm sure that is the conversion factor.

Welcome @JLynnsDuckies . No ducks here, but working on DH.

Blanch, to get a goat in the city, just buy a dog tag & put a collar on them and call them a heritage breed.OK the hooves might give 'em away.

Ralphie, have I got a deal for you! I happen to know a gal that is retiring from raising alpacas. She has a great price for the whole herd of about 20+. Just think, I could bring my 6 fiber boys to your place to get the discount for shearing

. Your DW would love them, they are so sweet!

Scandia I love the SFH I got 3 from mnhomestead & 1 has grown to a beauty ( the other two were a roo & 1 casualty of DD's cat). I also got 3 Icelandics, flighty but cute little eggs. I got 2 hens & 1 roo. I fell in love with the boy,

I have confession, the other day I had a chicken get injured. I had a hook that kept the cord from the winter waterer out of the way of the girls. I had it turned down so no one would get hurt. I guess that some time this summer it got turned up & I found my EE, that is molting, caught on it. I was surprised to find her alive, but boy are they hardy, got her cleaned up, BluKote'd, & kept her at the house for a couple of days. She decided it was time to get back to her flock & made a run for it. She is eating & happy to be back. I've been giving her scrambled eggs on the QT. BTW, the hook is gone; I should have done it when the heated bowl was taken out.

We have had a couple of fun days. Yesterday, took the train to the Twins game with DD & SIL. And today, since DD still had to finish getting her class room ready, we took the Grands to Canterbury for Family Day & to see a friend's horse race. Personally the highlight, for me, was to play on that awesome playground ( I have to help the little ones, right?).

As for the alcohol discussion, DH is in a wheelchair as a result of being young & dumb (20 yo & drunk) that was 40+ yrs ago. In the business, one of 2 things happen, you become an alcoholic or you stop drinking; I really have no desire to drink outside of work. We are getting into the busy season, holiday shows, end of year vintages, new products, reps from everywhere. Feel sorry for me yet?

@mnhomestead I know the feeling.

I know how much you liked Hussy, Rauphie. So sorry you lost her.

I saw a flash of white outside the window and then another. I thought, Oh no, my dog is chasing the chickens? I went out and saw she was going after a cat that was in the yard! Good Dog!!!

Introducing Winnie The Pooch. ( I know that name will give me even more negative redneck points. But I just can't seem to see that as a bad thing......

Super Cute....

@aussiegal

Those SFH are the bitchiest ladies about there! They can't shut up to save their lives!

Mine is a sweetie; I'll trade you for some BAs or Speckled Sussex.

I'm getting a new coop! DH didn't want me to post on Craigslist my extra BA or SS (hatchery screw up) so here I am with 40+ chickens & a coop that holds 15-20. I'm ok with the outcome.
