Minnesota!

Congratulations Cyrus on the Bun in the Oven. That's exciting stuff right there. Is this your first?
We have pictures of our twin babies in camo footed pj's with DH and FIL holding them in one arm and their Wild Turkey harvests in another. Good times. Taking the kids turkey hunting.

Goats. It would be fun if I had more space. And time.... The older I get the more I realize that I need to keep it to a dull roar. There are things that are piling up on me as far as yard work and home maintenance. Adding to the fray is nutso.

Alcohol. I've got PITA memories with my Dad. Learning how to drive a stick shift car at 13 because I HAD To. I see friends struggling with marriages due to alcohol abuse. But it's their business. I personally find it hard to be a mother the next day with a hang over so if I go out the night before. I shut 'er down pretty early. That being said there is nothing like a nice cocktail or beer after a days hard work to enjoy, or wine to celebrate and be part of culture. Those that take it too far. That's their decision. And not for me to tell them what to do. And I hope I won't be judged in return.
I think it's called "responsible adult".

I've been seeing pictures of the walk-ways and such at the Great Minnesota Get Together. My gosh is there a ton of people there. And why?! There is not one fancy chicken there to be seen for cripes sake.

Well a busy week again of pulling in garden stuff. Pickle canning with a friend. Making more stewed tomatoes. Lawn Haying. Soap making (maybe). Cleaning the Camper for Lake Vermilion on Labor Day weekend.

then it's School Season.

How is the haying coming? My alfalfa was baled last week and is coming back nicely, so hopefully I will be ready to try my haylage experiments in 2-3 weeks

Well, only 432 posts since I left town last week. Cyrus, I will reply to your good news! Congratulations!!!
I got to hold my 6-month old 3rd cousin while I was gone and I loved it! I LOVE LOVE LOVE babies!! Even more than chickens!!!!
I won't be going back today and reading, I have to catch up around the house and yard and coops. Hubby does a great job of caring for stuff, but there is still pens to split or move and things like that. I am going to have a laugh at how much the meatballs grew in 5 days, I am sure. They are at that point where they are really starting to pack it on.

I hope you all have a good day out there!

As W. C. Fields said "I love small children, lightly roasted they're best". I told my son if you do get married and have a baby you can bring it around when it is about 8 0r 9.
I fear I would be swiftly overruled on this by my wife, but it is worth a try.
I also say that the two most expensive things in this world are a wife and children. My wife says I would not be able to function without her and that I talk rough, but that actions speak louder than words. I say, what does that mean exactly?

Actually Cyrus congratulations and be sure to spend all the time you can with your children. They will be grown and gone before you can believe.

Cyrus, I have to semi agree with EJB. BUT I think if you can skip the kids part and go right to the grandkids part, you will be way happier!

My kids can't understand why I like my grandkids more than I like them, I assume my kids have broken mirrors.

BTW It is amazing how quiet the yard is today with just one turkey in prison.

I have white And black mold in some of it. KlopKlop. So I'll have to fork out that junk and keep it turning. ack. I think letting it dry a bit on the lawn too will be good before pushing it in the run before it's time. But if I remember right I had to beat the rain last time. Oh well.

I was afraid of that when you said you were just going to pile it up. You would have to turn it quite regularly to get it dry I think
