Minnesota!

Well, they got the tractor running. Now there are 4 guys out there baling by flashlight. I love their dedication. What a great family I married into!!

Oh BTW Ralphie I pretty much told the DNR guy I told you so but I forgot to say it came from you. I will be sure to tell that to the federal agent guy they send over here. I will be sure to give him your address too just in case he wanted to visit you. :) You're welcome! I wish I were closer to take some guinea off your hands. Sorry that guy from craigslist never showed. What a crapper!

I think his homework is done and he's od'd on Clearasil, personally, but that's just me! I butted on the off chance that it is legit and I was going to say something I might regret when I was sobe..ah..tomorrow.

Bog, that's great about your dad. Wish him a happy birthday from an old lady in Wyoming, will you please?

Chislic is a dish found almost exclusively in a small area of Eastern South Dakota. It's so regional that if you go out to Rapid City they don't know what you're talking about. It's cubes of meat, flash fried in hot oil for just few minutes, then sprinkled liberally with coarse salt (my preference) or other seasonings and served with cold beer. The meat is a mystery - sometimes mutton (the traditional), sometimes beef (for those without much imagination) or venison, which I like the best. No, it's not fondue, although some folks immediately think of that. It's different. It's just, well, chislic. When I was growing up you could even order it at Dairy Queen. Yummy! But since they don't make beer blizzards, marketing had second thoughts.

"Owner. operator and certified instructor at Ralphie's Chicken wrangling service and institute. Remember the Freezer Camp day class is now taking enrollment. Fees may not be tax deductible." Ralphie-May I ask who your certification is through? Do you have a copy of your certification? I need to make sure I am providing enough details for DH to show him how important taking your classes are and that they are legit. He would not really like it if I just went to some guys house that I met on the Internet for something called 'camp day' IDK he acts all funny about that kinda stuff.

Oh, my gosh! I just spit tea on my computer screen! Did you know that it makes pretty little multicolored round dots on the screen when you do that? Anyway, I read Rhett's post and the first thing I thought of was 'Bon Jour!"

Creamed cucs in the summer and creamed cabbage in winter. They go through the same process. I think it's a German thing my Grandma Gertie taught Ma and she taught us girls. But we go through creamed cucs faster than a bag of chips here. Peel and slice medium sized cucumbers into chips. Add slivers of white onion throughout. Salt to taste, good amount of pepper ( remember it's German) and allow the cucumbers to wilt in the salt. (About an hour) In a seperated bowl take heavy whipping cream and add a tbsp or two of white vinegar to thicken. Then pour over top of wilted cucumbers. Serve with Mashed potatoes and gravy and a roast beef ( my personal favorite). Creamed cabbage is about as good. And of course garden cucs are better than store bought.

Blooie shared chislic with me last winter. And my family inhales it. I sprinkle course kosher salt on ours. And there's something about drinking a beer with it... It rounds it off nicely. Delish.
