Minnesota!

Speaking of eagles...
Three in my yard, either a pair and a juvie or one adult and 2 juvies.
400

Make that FOUR!!!! Two parents and their two juvies! Plus about 8 turkey vultures. Ya think something dead is laying around? Actually, I think they are migrating. They didn't go to the chicken yard.

what? I'm gone all day and there are only THREE posts? must have been the gorgeous weather keeping everyone outside.

There are a couple of eagles that nest up the road abit...so I am used to seeing them. But any eagle, hawk, owl...kind of makes you nervous.

Went up to hawk ridge and watched migration - lots of eagles, broadwings, sharpies, a few falcons, kestrels,...everyone was oohing and ahing over a v-formation of sandhill cranes, but they are around here all summer so that wasn't too exciting. Beautiful day.

Minniechickiemama, I was googling bobwhite and found byc pages by two crows - very helpful. I can't believe I couldn't find them before by doing byc searches.

About those bobwhites....supposedly they don't roost. You know I have them in a small coop, that has a roost about 3 feet off the ground. Since they don't need the space, I have left two hay bales in there stacked.....well tonight darned if there weren't five bobwhites on the roost, looking pleased as punch. And a rooster on the haybales!

Egg production is up a bit since last weeks herbal worming doses, which surprises me because of the number of molting hens I have.

I know, where is everyone?

Anywhoo, here are some photos of the inside of the new run, just to post something of course

I left the hardware cloth around the original run and made a door so that I can separate birds, and new birds when needed.

I have both geese and ducks.  I have to say the ducks are way more fun and tolerable than the geese.  I have not found one quality in the geese yet that makes me want to keep them.  Why do I still have them?  Because I can't even give them away and my freezer isn't big enough.  Ducks are so fun to watch, they are not loud, they are great egg layers depending on breed.  Wintering the geese and ducks wasn't that great.  I used the rubber dishes that you can flip over and stomp on to break the ice out for water.  That worked well.  I am working on a different location for wintering them here this year. A work in progress.

Give me a price on the geese and I may want them. Lol what breed r they??

This is the roo I am keeping. Pics dont do him any justice. And I had to add waterfowl pics for Ralphy since he loves them so much.

Had a fun day up by Goodridge at my great gma and gpas farm. It was a clean up day since they had to move closer due to old age so there was lots of branches all over.

Check out this crazy torpedo egg i got today! its a monster too. The egg in the back is already big in its own right too.

Also... here is how I am finishing my night...
A screaming torpedo egg? I pity the girls that lay those things. If a hen laying an egg is like a woman having a 9-pound baby, then those double yolkers gotta be like an 18-pound baby!!! Poor girls.

I have decided I would be good at selling oce to eskimos. I managed to sell another roo!!! If ya'll need I will right ads for things that r hard to get rid of for the low price of $19.99 per sentence!! What a steal! I could charge $20.00!! Lol is it working??
