I also picked up one of these to put in the nesting box. since mine always try and use the same box, it worked great to keep my eggs from freezing most days. I leave for work at 4:45am and don't get home until 4 or so to collect eggs, so needed to try something.

Ralphie is going to have alot to get caught up on, I was caught up at supper, then came back here at 8 (only a couple hours later) and had 31 new messages! lol
 
Do chickens show signs of discomfort before they start to develope frostbite? someone mentioned they will stick their heads under their wings? Anything else? Luckly I have have my 2x4 roost with the 4" side sticking up so I think I will be good on that end of the deal. But I am a little worried about my RIR and my BR since they do have single combs :/
