What is the big thing women seem to have with flowers?

They are not edible, take up valuable garden space that could have veggies in it. Attract bees and flies.

If they sit on a table they block your view.

I just do not understand it.

Thoughtfulness. I think that's what it boils down to. DH could give me dandelions and I'd be happy :)

I do have to say, once this year he sent me flowers at work for no good reason. The house was still standing. Our offspring were still alive. He didn't break or blow anything up. All was well. I'm still trying to figure that one out....

Hahahaha! I love what she said! I was laughing and had to read my DH your post

So one of my girls "Mother" isn't eating a whole bunch but seems fine otherwise, just a little slow. She gobbled up some live meal worms when I gave them to her though. I'll have to keep and eye on her and see what happens. this is day 2 of her not eating a whole bunch.

Little worried. I had one about a month ago "Fi" who did the same thing, she got better on her own in just a few short days, maybe 3 or 4. Fingers crossed it is nothing bad.

Is she molting? mine often lose their appetite and move pretty slowly when molting. I think they feel like crap!

when I went to pick up the firewood, the guy had it on a concrete pad behind the barn. he said he had to move it back there because people kept coming in the night and loading up the wood and stealing it when it was more conveniently located up by the road!

I don't have a Keurig. I have a black something or other from Target that has been in my house for 16 years. (After I got married) My good friends don't like coming over for Coffee Sundays because it is too slow. (Even with vinegar flushes) So I have to pass the time away stuffing them with baked goods, etc. I would get a new coffee maker but we don't drink coffee every morning. We're sort of grab and go soda drinkers. Horrible I know. But I'm super cheap to buy a new coffee maker if we're not going to use it. I'll limp along with my "Target" model.

Ralphie I feel the need to dock you redneck points for having a Keurig...coffeee...carafe, no less.

Last night was MIL's birthday dinner. I usually find an extravagant dish that I know she's probably not had. She loved it all. I got her flowers from Costco too....serves me right I bought big white Hydrangeas for $10. and they were wilted by her dinner last night. So disappointing. If Costco wasn't 65 miles away I would have driven them back. Shoot.
I love getting fresh flowers. It is the sentiment behind it that counts. For sure. Hopefull she felt that way too, still...

I haven't spent much time with my chickens lately. I'm feeling like I need some feathered friend time. Take some pictures...even though they are rough looking in the molt. My Black Australorp has been slow and fluffed up looking since the weekend. I'm just a tidge worried for her...but why do I have the feeling I'm going to have a black feather explosion in the coop one morning. She's 3 1/2 years old and not very productive any more. She gave me like 5 eggs last spring...2 of which were double yolkers. So cute. She's my favorite...such a nice bird.

My Grandpa keeps grumbling that by the time all my chickens stop laying I'm not going to be able to freezer camp any of them because I'll be to bonded to them. Oh and besides the freezer camp solution anyone have any ideas as what to do with an aggressive rooster? My Orpington rooster Thor has spurred me a few times to many. I give him the boot, football carry him around, but I don't really upside down carry him that much because he's so big and I don't know if that would squish his organs too much. Every time he Goes to attack I do think about the recipes and how good he would be slow cooked in the crock pot and barbecued but he's such a pretty rooster and has taken down the German Shepherd when she went after a couple hens.

Just curious about these dogs... Do they stay in the yard or are they wanderers? I live by a busy road, will they stay off it? I know they are supposed to be good with chickens, does this mean they are also good against coons, skunks and the like? And the big question, how expensive are they?

You could always come clean my house..I would let your DW come and "see what you accomplished"

Flowers??? What are those? I vaguelly (sp) remember something that smelled nice once...about 27 years ago.... before we got married.

My mom complained about the stupid thing she did during hunting season. The guys where all out in the woods and she wanted some steaks for supper. Long story short, she butchered the deer they had hanging and every one since then.

Yea - see thats what I'm talking about. The very thing - she needs to mess up so that they don't trust her again.

I have 6 girls I got them in May they were about 10 days old, we love having them, but I'm having issues with one them laying her eggs from the roost,

Yea - I had that problem too. I put the fake egg in the nesting box and eventually that bird caught on. I had to watch her closely for a couple of days to help her learn that THIS is where we lay eggs!
