Minnesota!

Ohh Noo...my 1st problem... yesterday my butterscotch came up to me so i picked her up and set her on my lap, i noticed both her ears had scabs on them like the got pecked and were scabbing,, when i put her down she kept scratching at them and i noticed she keeps shaking her head and does allot of yawning.. then i noticed today both sides are swelling up and is red and looks like they are filled with fluid... Hope someone can help cant afford 2 vet bills in 1 wk,,, sorry the pics aren't so good...

Coffee it looks like she is getting pecked or she may have a touch of fowl pox. Hard to tell from pics...a little blurry. Separate her from others though until you get her healed up and/ or figure out what's going on.

I'm going to investigate some sort of antibiotic since none of them are laying eggs yet. I have some Blu`Kote so i put some of that on her... LOL now she has pretty blue cheeks and I have pretty blue hands... She is such a good girl she lets me pick her right up doesn't even phase her for me to be holding her...I didn't notice anyone pecking her till I put the blukote on her then one of the EE`s ran up to her and started pecking right away.. Argggg... I have an idea how to separate her but cant do it till tomorrow. and she wont like it because she will have to sleep alone...

Rhett I sure blew it on the canine ID for you today. I was fairly sure they were the same animal, but the 4 inch paw print ruled that out.
I know they are rough pictures. I think the first one does look like it has spindles for legs. Really poor quality game cam photos for sure. If I hadn't seen the prints I would think it looks coyoteish too. Any movement really distorts whatever it is taking a picture of.

I also have the benefit of knowing the sizes of those trees and stumps so I know how tall the animal is compared to the other things in the pictures.

My first thought was mites too shaking her head like that. But not sure with that picture. Mites may require more than DE IMHO...Coffee do your birds have a place to dust themselves in ash or loose dirt? My reasoning for pox is it can sometimes affect the oral opening and swell that area along with lesions. But not entirely sure. Most birds fight this off on their own. It's viral I believe....

You did good by putting the Blue Kote on. You don't want any more pecking. And I hope that it is not pox. It could be mites and the others are "helping" themselves to them and got a bit of skin with it. There are several options for mites. Ivermec pour on-- a few drops on the bird under wings, vent, and I'd some on the neck. Retreat in 9 days. The poultry dust, same--dust then dust again in 9 days. you'll need to do this for everyone if it is mites. If one has it then they all have them. Clean out bedding and nesting materials. clean roosts...etc., etc. Complete PITA.
