Minnesota!

Have a great camp day all! What time is the party getting under way? Tomorrow/Sunday my son has to pull the camper off the site on the lake. That is the weekend that he cleans up the shop. One of the benefits of him keeping it here. DS is a mechanic so I quit fixing things. He hates it when I hand him parts of something I took apart to 'fix'. He would just rather do it from start to finish. I just wish he had a few more hours in his day

. I plan on hiring out the coop remodel because of our current situation, not because I really want to. You take a chance on it getting really screwed up with someone else doing it.

Ralphie Sunday would be great! I'll need to roll out the red carpet for such a big star! Any time, after 9 am, works for me. Plenty of coffee here!

Yep, I see what you are saying. Best of luck on camp day tomorrow Ralphie. Glad to hear you got some help. Lucky bums they are!

Night all. Sounds like the weather is going to be fabulous this weekend!! Hope everyone has a good one!

I have heard a few times here someone mention the sounds the hens make when you go in the coop at night. I am so glad to hear you say that. I thought I was weird when I thought how nice it was. Also, during the day I am in and out of the coop checking for eggs and the such. OK to be honest sometimes I go out there to hide and get away from life for awhile. Sometimes I find myself just standing there in the coop trying to de-stress. Strange for some but the chickens are my relief and regroup. OK so I have a couple hens that make the most precious sounds while in the nest boxes. I LOVE it when I happen to pop in there when they are nesting. One even sounds like she is purring like a kitten. It is so wonderful to hear. OK I am weird I know but it really is nice to hear them cooing away in there.

I have heard or read someone say. "I can't afford a psychiatrist so I have chickens." Seems right to me.

Ok, I have been more than patient with you people!

I am drinking coffee and none of you have written me any coffee reading material.

Now that you have been properly reprimanded, Happy Camp Day to you all!

I'm up! Kittens are fed, chickens are loose!
Off to the farmers market!

I have had one sad mopey leghorn the last few days, I assumed she is starting molt. Much like 'Mother' she looks all sad and doesn't move. DW though she was dead when she went out there this morning because she was sleeping funny.
I picked her up and she is like a dry lead, she is so thin. I locked her in a nest box to keep her safe today while we are out. when I get home she will get some tuna and see if I can't figure out what is going on.

Her comb was very dull and rolled over, which is odd

Bummer Kloppers.

I hope you bring her around.

I have your "old" problem now. The chickens have decided they like sleeping in the nests. I think I am going to have to lock them out, and remove the cover after they are roosting. The Ghetto Sisters started it and now they are all doing it. I moved them last night to a roost, they were not happy. One of the ghetto sisters screamed at me for 10 minutes after I had her on a roost.

I think they talk to your chickens, my coop is or can be divided into too parts. I have nest boxes in both parts. One chicken uses the back bank, and in the front they use the just two boxes.

I wish that was an "old" problem. I had to block the nests last night. Even with the new low roosts three of the Cornish are sleeping in there. Two of the dark Cornish have it figured out though.

I find it amazing how fast the rest learned from those two to stay in a nest. It is my fault, I let them stay there when I saw them their because they are young and so cute...NOW they all try to sleep in the nests!
