Does Bert jr roost? Conrad and buck, both being big boys, both sleep on the ground

He does not have a roost in his brooder. I was just telling the DW I need to built a big boy coop with a low roost for Jr and the Sussex's. I will put a low roost in the "coop" for the CX's and a higher one in the Suxxes coop..

Jr. does jump up on things. He gets 2-3 feet in the air. I hate them getting high after Bert Sr died of the bumblefoot.

That is why I asked (bumblefoot)

I have a 1' roost in conrads house but it hasn't been there for more than a week so be may not have it figured out. He struggles just to hop up and down from the pop door and we laugh to see him do it. He is such a big boy

Buck used to roost when their roosts were stair stepped starting at about 1' the new winter roost may be too high for him.

I made a pallet table for my incubator today. I "toasted" the wood and then sanded it a little and then added a coat of gloss.

Guess what everyone? Chicken math strikes again:

The family that gave me 5 pullets last fall contacted me today, this year they have: a Red Star, a Buff Orpington, a Double Laced Barnvelder, a Dominique, a Plymouth Barred Rock Bantam, and a white Silkie Bantam, all about 7 months old.

Isn't that great? I'm a little nervous about a silkie bantam, good lord, they are small. But I have Seaquist, and Isabella, who are both small, and Ralphies Creamer roo will be smaller, so...maybe that will work fine.
why do they keep getting pullets and then give them away?
