Minnesota!

The girls Ham and Bacon. They must have found something delightful to rut around in! :)
I really like pigs. One of my favorites along with chickens.
This looks awesome! I am hoping to raise feeder pigs in the coming years. I promised DW I would focus on getting the new house built before I go full farmer on her :)

what do you feed them besides what they root in pasture?

Some pictures Ralphie might enjoy. All the ones I am posting today are from chores this morning.
The one not in display is the turkey that was attacked earlier this summer by a fox. He has healed nicely. He has been given a pass on camp. He will live here as long as possible. Runty is his name.

And here are pictures of some of my Langshans. All my chickens come from Murray Mcmurray.

Roo and hen, Then hen below. Her bright red comb and wattles with her shiny black is SO pretty!

Yeah we bought chickens before the house was finished. We weren't living here and trying to raise chickens, ducks and geese in town without getting in trouble was really fun. Only a month but really?! what were we thinking! We moved out here last July and have slowly been getting more and more farmer all the time. I LOVE IT!

We were going to feed the pigs organically but that proved too hard and expensive. We just buy the feed mills pig feed. It is cheap $13 for a 50lb bag. Not at all what DH wanted to do but maybe next year. We are satisfied knowing our pork is healthy and well fed without antibiotics. That is better than before so I am happy. We were feeding them two times a day and let them pasture. Now that we are at the end we are trying to keep feed in front of them all the time. They also get any food scraps.

Your turkeys are pretty. What breed?

Rhett thanks for the pictures, I loved them all. I really liked the pigs. I would like to get a couple, however, the war department refuses to allow me to get any. I am thinking if I go to an auction and happen to bid on a couple by accident, there is not much she can say. Is there?

One of the things you learn in consoler training is honesty is overrated in a marriage. Deception is your friend....

The one turkey may not display because the other one does not allow it. Sidekick only gets to display when JJ allows it, if there is a girl to impress it is not allowed.

Here is a video of my turkeys being released. They did not go where they normally do so the video is not that cool, but 32 seconds in the Meth Boys decide it is time for them to fly. It is short lived but funny.

This is the only place I can be a chicken nerd.

My friends are all sick of me!

I was telling my co-workers this morning about how I put the eggs I'm incubating into lockdown yesterday. Then, I explained how I marked all of the air cells then was up all night monitoring the humidity and making sure all was well. Then, you have to watch the temp because of this and this and that and this. They looked at me like I went down the rabbit hole.

They just don't get it.
