Minnesota!

Great pictures of barnyards and critters on here since I've been on last. Klop Klop I love your barnyard photos. You get some great ones. Rhetts yours too. Minnesota Nice...I keep saying to myself that 's an awesome coop whenever I see you post photos of it.

Minnie. I have nothing but positive feelings about your abdomen issue and it turning out just fine. You're in my thoughts. And you doctor at a pretty great place too. So sorry that the rear-ending just sorta put salt in a wound though for s you. When it rains it pours sometimes.

Nice looking Creamer there, Ralphie. He's a good looking boy. LaLa I'm glad you have him. Do you have any hens left after your ordeal with sickness? Cute stories about your Momma. I can envision it all your few words on her and Ralphie's "encounter."

@Coffee 1st you are right the pour-on is a wormer as well. I'm not sure how great it is for an all around broad spectrum. But I think your birds are young enough where the load is most likely not that bad and your immediate problem is the mites with that birds ears. So do the Pour on for now. and if you want to revisit the Valbazen this winter when nobody is laying then you can give that broad spectrum Valbazen. Great idea Cluckies on sharing the the cost of the Valbazen. I might get some from coffee too if she wants to sell off a portion to help with her cost. mine expired this year. I used Safegaurd in the circulation this year anyways. But I may roll around to VAlbazen next year again or year after.

Well I had a "first" as a parent. My son took a punch to the face on the school bus. By some rag-tag kid from a family of kids with "anger issues" to put it P. C. Personally I call this f'd up parenting. But I know what the school will call it and am I ever ready for the phone call from the school. Where the school and the family will fail in consequences to actions I will demand. If the other family members hadn't laid down the ground work for this incident I'd chalk it up to "boys will be boys."

But unfortunately, their oldest son has called my daughter derogatory foul female names. He then saw my son walking on our road this summer and sped up and started doing reckless S's in the road spitting gravel at my son. Now this on the bus. My kid is a 70 lb 8th grader, waiting for a growth spurt here... he's a good kid, gritty when he needs to be but he's small and kids LOVE to pick on him. He didn't see it coming and he restrained himself.

My husband gets so upset watching the news about inner city upset and the mom that goes down to the bar and leaves a 6, 4 and 2 year old to burn up in a house. He asks me why I don't get upset. Well there's not much I can do about that. BUT I can certainly do something about this. God I'm p*$$ed.

Thanks for letting me vent. My plan is to listen to the principle when he call's on Monday. listen to the P.C. B.S. probably on how hard this kid has it...yah-dah yah-dah. Then I'm going to ask for a phone call from the parents with an apology to me and an apology for my son. Community service in the school for a week with a janitor or something. If I don't get it then we go to court and the 12 year old gets a black mark on his name for the rest of his days. Consequences There are no consequences to actions any more. people are not held responsible for their own actions and society is blamed. I'm wanting to change that in this incidence. I don't want my kids feeding this kid when they're all older. Advice taking right now........ What would you do?

BC, I assume we are talking about a smaller school district. Less than 100 kids to a class?

I would watch it play out as Blanch says . AND I would contact a school board member you or your husband have a relationship with and know to be a decent person that cares. Most school board members do, but not all.

Having been a school board member myself, I can tell you when I parent called I listened and got involved, or at least check on the "progress' of the situation. Schools are made up of people, teachers, Principals and other staff that want to take the path of least resistance. I can assure you when I walked into the classroom/office or wherever I wanted to go to "discuss" an incident. People knew the path of least resistance was closed. Also you should know sometimes the complaining parents kid was the problem, I felt it was my duty to mention that to the parent . However, that does not seem the case here.

Even if the parent just mentions it to a board member and wants the member to just monitor the incident and not get involved, the members will all know of the problem kid for next time and make sure it plays out fairly. There are certain advantages to living in small school districts. That is one. It has been 20 years since I was on the school board but I doubt things have changed much.

One cute side note to this. Our superintendent made a rule school board members could not enter a school with a "pass" from him. We changed said rule and he found a new job shortly afterwards. Never forget local politics when you need too use them.

As much IVOMEC as I have on me I shouldn't have worms, lice, or flies on me for a very long time... I need to invest in some rubber gloves... Besides scabs, cheesy pus and medications chicken owning is a lot of fun.. Lol. At this rate I will have to sell my chicken eggs $50 a dozen...
yeah, scabs, cheesy pus, meds,....you left out chicken **** on your clothes....that explains why we are all chicken nuts. I was loading the car this morning to get my mom home and noticed, believe it or not, chicken **** on the drivers seat. Dang. I try to be careful.

Yeah we bought chickens before the house was finished. We weren't living here and trying to raise chickens, ducks and geese in town without getting in trouble was really fun. Only a month but really?! what were we thinking! We moved out here last July and have slowly been getting more and more farmer all the time. I LOVE IT!

We were going to feed the pigs organically but that proved too hard and expensive. We just buy the feed mills pig feed. It is cheap $13 for a 50lb bag. Not at all what DH wanted to do but maybe next year. We are satisfied knowing our pork is healthy and well fed without antibiotics. That is better than before so I am happy. We were feeding them two times a day and let them pasture. Now that we are at the end we are trying to keep feed in front of them all the time. They also get any food scraps.
I've wanted to do pigs but have been scared off by stories of how intelligent they are. Hows it going ? would you do it again?

Aussiegal, how are you planing on integretating Ralphie's creamer roo into the flock? I've never added a rooster that wasn't hatched here before....so far, there has been a lot of eyeballing and checking him out but no sign of trouble. Its been years and years since I've added a single hen to the flock. He wants to be with the flock badly. thinking of letting him out either today, because I can help him get back in the coop tonight, or not til Saturday, for the same reasons.
