I thought about getting tickets for the new Star Wars, but I don't even know if I want to brave the theatres! I may wait until it's been out for awhile or buy the Blu-ray. Looks so cool! DH doesn't love Star Wars as much as me. Not sure why. Pffft.

ok, spent some time on the web, and apparently these aren't rat droppings because they are round:

Note: they were shiny this morning but have been scuffed up by the chickens:

these are large peppercorn, or tiny pea sized

who made this poop?

and you can see from the feed on the ground here why I am probably feeding the greater population in Minnesota of whatever these critters are. I tried withholding feed for a day but nothing seemed to get cleaned up...probably just need to dig it in in the few areas around the feeders where it is bad.

huh. now that you mention it, there was a rabbit in the run last night. just one. I don't know if they would eat the feed but would they eat the hay?

There were two open holes in the tunnels, which I've assumed are rat tunnels - slighly raised, no mounds of dirt.

I read rats will eat your chickens feet in the dark!! and that if your hens all of a sudden won't roost it might be because of rats.

but, kopkop, they do look like rabbit poop. gonna look that up.

geesh, I am relieved. there were sooooo many droppings, I was picturing a hoard.

I have rats.  today, there was evidence besides the tunnels - there must have been a herd of rats judging from the poop piles.  Never seen that.  scares the heck out of me, it is a rat siege.

remember, a couple weeks ago I said I was headed out to get rat poison.  Well, I spent an hour reading labels and didn't get any.  

Now, I have to do it.  Wilzpapa, what kind of rat poison did you use?

Yes I'm no fan either but with rats it's more about getting rid of a predator I prefer natural methods like a working cat lol

My cats are so lazy they just lay and point the direction to the feed bins.....

I asked my cousin who is a vet about rat poison that is supposedly pet friendly I found today. She says that "Pet Friendly" needs enthusiastic air quotes with your fingers, so don't trust that. Poison is poison....

I bought 4 of the massive wooden rat traps. I plan to attach them to some plywood scraps to keep them from getting flipped over by wise rats or something.
