Minnesota!

So none of my EEs have laid in forever!! But my RIR and BR have been going nonstop. Hope I get some colored eggs before winter ends. Two of my three EEs have been in a huge molt. But one is well past hers.
Question. My RIR and BR have been molting lightly. Is this all they do sometimes?
Last year my EE quit laying end of october/beginning of November, and she didn't start again until spring, april or may...

But she cranks out the eggs all summer long, almost an egg a day.

For slightly warming the coop I have a 'Cozy Legs' panel on the wall behind the roost, it's plugged into that whatchmajiggy that goes on and off at 30/40 degrees.
You have a 2 gallon pail with horizontal nipples with heater, and pump? and also the cozy legs flat panel heater? we have the same set up, that is so cool!

I am so excited!! I get to right the duck breed focus and use my own pics!!!
Woot woot, great job holm!

Interesting, I bought some nipples bt I could not get the chicken to use them. I use drinking cups and they barely use them. BTW The spring loaded drinking cups are great the others not so much.
Did you buy vertical or horizontal nipples?

No pump in mine just the heater.

I got 4 EE eggs today, 2 from old girls and 2 from new pullets, their first ones!

Thank you for all the help, as stated I probably will be checking this thread regularly. I am glad I found it. We found 10 acres just outside St.Paul and built a house last fall. With a million things to do this summer I didn't think a chicken coop would have been one of them. I am glad it was, I would have never thought my wife, 2 yr old, and myself would have enjoyed it nearly as much as we have. All my 2 yr old talks about at daycare are his chickens. I have learned a ton from this forum already, and now that I have found fellow MN folks I am sure I will get the info I need for my area.

Cozy leg panels, are they safe from fire? A secondary plan on -30 nights my not be a bad idea at all.
