Minnesota!

A way off the subject item:

We use American Express for most our spending, we have for years.

We do not go through our account statements as well as we should, I guess.

We  (meaning Judy) found a charge from McAfee for an automatic renewal. We have not used McAfee in years. AMerican Express was great, however, calling McAfee was not a pleasant experience. They refused to remove the charge, claimed we authorized and used McAfee.

They said we signed up for it in 07 and were still using it. The first person we talked to barely spoke English and was offended when we asked to speak to someone that did speak English.  Not their fault I a not bi-lingual but still impossible for me to deal with someone when we can not communicate. I have a hearing loss and foreign accents on the phone are very difficult for me.

They did not have our current address even, and we have been in this home for nearly 4 years. They tried to sell us another product instead of cancelling the one we had. We feel they took us for years of renewals. We knew we were not going to get that back. BUT they said we missed the "time frame " in which we were allowed to cancel and would have to wait for next year to cancel.

If this experience did anything, it assured us we would never use a McAfee product again.

Good on ya Ralphie. I too w a s just recently charged by something as a matter of fact amex.brought it to my attention and they handled the returned monies

Quote: I am so glad this had a happy ending and good on them for getting the gps collar.

We would love to foster but we've got 6 dogs of our and are now training a young lab puppy to take to the GSuns down in LA. The daughter had a terrible experience with a no kill shelter not fully vetting an intake - someone released her too early and one of the twins got bit in the head. :( Broke her heart to take her back to the shelter but hopefully they will now work with her and NOT adopt her out to a family with small (or any) children.

Maybe we will be able to get ourselves situated so we can foster . Soon many dogs (and cats) just need some love and patience before they go to a forever home!!

We'll chip Sadie when we get her spayed. I guess it's a larger bore needle and the vet tech recommended at that time with the sedation and all. Around here a "lost Labrador" is at risk of being adopted on the spot. We've had embroidered collars for our dogs with name and phone number. Jasmine would do unleashed walks with me down the road and would get behind as she'd stop for smells or snoop somewhere she wouldn't keep up or go wayward despite my calling her. Bullheaded. I'd get a call when she'd do this and the people a couple times said, " if you don't want her we'll keep her...!" I said, "no. Thank you for calling I'll be there to pick her up. I'd have upset kids if you did that. Were just a few properties down and she's a country dog who usually stays by my side and at home."
I know it sounds irresponsible to some of you maybe. But for the 2 miles I walked she got 10 miles in working the ditches back and forth. I'd put a leash on her and she'd roll like an alligator in a death roll. Lol. Oh she hated the leash. Sadie does much better with a leash. But when the time is right and I know she's car savvy I'll let her off too. Lol country roads are nice for that.

I WISH I could do that with the Huskies. The GP's are good for meandering and coming back but the Huskies are gone faster than greased lightening. And if the Weenies are along they think they can run just as fast. We've been extremely fortunate (prior to chickens and guineas) if anyone got out they did get home okay. So if you're ever in Brook Park MN and see a crazed woman being pulled behind 1 or 2 Huskies just stop and wave!

Some companies are very subtle about their auto renewal policies. Some will force you to call them so they may employ their pressure sales tactics. They will get a letter from me instead.

As much as I am able I do business through PayPal. PayPal will investigate unauthorized purchases and manage auto renewal notifications. AmEx is a great company, in my experience, to manage credit issues as well.

Credit card thieves will sometimes test a number by making a small purchase, $5 or less. Consumers don't pay attention because it's such a small amount, then the thieves hit them with a big purchase.

Good credit companies want to keep our business, will offer free credit monitoring programs. I let them do all the work because they are on the hook if they allow a fraudulent purchase to go through.

Can we laugh at you while we are waving? ;-)

morning
THUD yes I am online
I am committed to staying more in touch with my fellow chicken aficionados!

Of course I've got a question -- I've read when a hen is 'getting ready' to move into the laying phase of their life they will often be seen squatting at various times as they scratch, free range.

Well I've got a LO who seems to prefer squatting and sitting to walking. Nothing wrong with her legs - I can't decide if she's a little touched in the head or if she might bet trying to graduate to that phase of life. This has been going on some weeks now and no eggs from her or her sibling?

And does anyone know a good source for LO? I just adore their color. I'm a purple fanatic so why not bring it to chickens too. And is there a name for the Americana's that are all black but their feathers are gorgeous multiple colors when the sun hits them?

Ralphie - Lena said hello. Oh she was furious with me last night. Decided she was going to roost on the peacock cage (on it but it's covered with a tarped building) and then the guineas let her know that was THEIR perch. She chased them off and then I made her move. I got the stank eye glare all the way to the coop. She doesn't understand owl bait yet I don't think....
