Minnesota!

Oh no, did you find the other two roos?

Did you find the rest of your articles? that is terrible, those were great and alot of work went into them!

I do re-arrange them here and there. My one SLW "Mother" gets up on the roost and won't move no matter how much they peck her, so I have to put her by someone who won't peck her. I think she is scared to move as they will peck her more, so I move her. Then I will move them alternating facing forward and back if they don't do it themselves, which they usually do so they don't get pecked as much. my flock can be a bunch of bitties, I have three strong hens, and 2 that get picked on. usually if I place them in the same order everynight they are ok with it and settle down faster with minimal pecking. strong hen, weak hen, strong hen, weak hen, strong hen, then they are ok. weak hens facing the wall... i've only got the 5 though, so it is easy, cluck-cluck, goose, morticia, mother then fi.

Yeah did you find the other two roosters? I had to go back and read the story again to catch that you started with four and ended with two

I guess I wasn't clear, yes, I found both. Two were still in the hutch (the two wimpy White Silkies) and the two I found outside were returned to the hutch.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I spent all day on the sofa with blankets over me, fighting the relapse of this cold. Not the best way to spend one's birthday, but I do feel somewhat better today. If this isn't gone by the end of the week I am going to get some antibiotics since I will likely have developed a secondary infection that needs treating. This is the way it goes for me when I get a cold the last few years, there is not just getting a cold and in 10-days to two weeks it is gone. I have been through a bunch of tests to find out why and so far there is no answer. Wish me luck on getting over this before I have to start the doctor route again. My son has been sick for a week now too, so at least I am not alone in my 'misery' ;)

So glad the cold snap is over and we are getting warm, slow though it may be. I know my birds will appreciate it more than I will even.

Happy belated birthday @Minniechickmama ! I've been busy with work, so I missed the big event

Good luck with big chicken integration of 2016 @scandiafowl ! It's always exciting!

I brought my broody hen inside two nights ago to see if I can break her. She has been pushing out the biggest chicken poops I have ever seen. The kind of poop where if I had my phone on me, I'd be taking pictures. Very impressive.

Broodies will only come off the nest once a day to eat, drink and let out a huge broody poop? LOL! That is the norm. Just be glad they don't leave those in the nest box. EWWWWW!

I'm due in July and thank you! Last night DH told me he can see my moods swing by just looking in my eyes. Yes, he is still alive. But only because he went out and took care of chicken chores for me and I went to bed early. Did you end up with the trio of marans or just the hens?

@Minniechickmama , I can't believe you're still fighting that cold. What did they stick you on the first time around?

No more roosters. Cyrus will have to " take care" of them.
Between my Australorps, Jerseys, BSL, and Marans.. We'll have to do some color coding.

This has been going on for a few years, every time I get a cold it turns to something worse. I am starting to thing I have something at the top of my airway that prevents me from being able to cough them clear with a normal amount of effort. I have been on a few meds, and they work, but to have to take antibiotics to clear up what starts as a normal cold is just ridiculous.

I actually got some eggs from Cyrus back in October and hatched some chicks. Our chickens are related. I'll send you an invite to the birthday parties.

@Minniechickmama , once you feel better perhaps a swallow test may benefit you just to check your airway. They'll have you swallow different densities of barium while watching it under real time fluoro.
