Minnesota!

Put in a call to the lab and the vet.
All the other chickens are asymptomatic.

The chick that hatched this morning has one deformed leg.

It's a lousy chicken week.

Sorry for your chicken troubles.

Thank you. I've appreciated everyone's perspective and support. Sometimes I wish I could be a bit less soft hearted.

When I had to put my 15 year old cat to sleep a couple of years ago I cried and cried. She lived with me in four different countries :)

klopklop, I'm blown away by the nearly 300 dozen eggs. wow!

we were talking about disinfectants, and I've heard that virkon is the one to be using as it gets most viruses including mareks. I never went for it because I could only find it in huge quantaties and it is very expensive. But I saw a stromberg catalog and they had a 30 $ size....might look into it.

Depending how many chickens you have, the numbers add up quickly! in the peak of the fall we were picking 38-40 eggs a day. with the winter we are down near 20-25. Some of our girls are just finally molting, which is wierd but they are doing it very very quickly which is probably a good thing.

you know, I have a hen in molt which I thought was totally bizarre. maybe this weather is wacking everyone out.

It is really fun that your wife thinks you need more chickens and more coop space!
