Minnesota!

It isn't the eating of the plants I would worry about as much as keeping the chickens from digging everything up.

It's true. My flock spent most of last summer strewing all of my fresh laid wood chips around the yard. I had to cover my patch of new planted bulbs with hardware cloth the keep them out of there!

Are there flowering perennials and/or annuals that chickens don't eat?

I'm thinking about fencing in a few paddocks for the poultry.

They can be a real nuisance! But with paddocks I could let them range in an area & let the other areas rest.

Plus they wouldn't be QCing my zucchini and tomatoes!

Cacti.

Yeah probably. My geese try to eat my moms really thorny bushes. I don't know what they are, but they have kind of succulent leaves, are red and have thorns.

We were in a battle for my mothers red currants. Fortunately we picked most of them before they discovered how good they are.

Just found a egg stash from one of the Marans. She broke through a screen and laid her eggs behind pine shavings. Was she upset when I pulled her out and stapled the screen securely.

My banty Cochin, Napoleon, looks like Rocky, one eye shut and blood on his face.
He's spending the night in the brooder with water and scrambled eggs.
He's eating and drinking, a good sign, but didn't fight me at all when I picked him off of the roost.
I first noticed his malaise when I called the flock in with scratch grains and he didn't join them for the feast.
He's very quiet.

I had to put both the Silkie roosters in the Blue/Black/Splash pen. The older Black has always been the king of the roost, but the young Blue had thoroughly kicked his butt, turned his comb into a scab, and tore out about 3/4 of his crest. I thought competition would be a good thing, and they would scrap a little but then settle down. After two weeks I was still finding them at it. A little blood drawn won't hurt too much but I still hate seeing it happen.
